He answered them,“ Pick me up and throw me into the sea so that it will calm down for you, for I know that I’m to blame for this great storm that is against you.”

曰、取我身擲於海、則海之震盪立止、蓋我知緣我之故、爾遭颶風。

曰、將我擲於海、則海恬靜、蓋我知爾曹遭此颶風、乃緣我之故、

“ Pick me up and throw me into the sea,” he replied,“ and it will become calm. I know that it is my fault that this great storm has come upon you.”

“ Pick me up and throw me into the sea,” he replied.“ Then it will become calm. I know it’s my fault that this terrible storm has come on you.”

He said to them,“ Pick me up and hurl me into the sea; then the sea will quiet down for you, for I know it is because of me that this great tempest has come upon you.”

“ Throw me into the sea,” Jonah said,“ and it will become calm again. I know that this terrible storm is all my fault.”

And he said to them,“ Pick me up and hurl me into the sea. Then the sea will become calm for you, because I know that on account of me this great storm has come upon you.”

And he said to them,“ Pick me up and throw me into the sea; then the sea will become calm for you. For I know that this great tempest is because of me.”

And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you.

He answered them,“ Pick me up and throw me into the sea so it may quiet down for you, for I know that I’m to blame for this violent storm that is against you.”

And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest[ is] upon you.

He said to them,“ Pick me up and throw me into the sea to make the sea quiet down, because I know it’s my fault you are in this severe storm.”

He said to them,“ Take me up, and throw me into the sea. Then the sea will be calm for you; for I know that because of me this great storm is on you.”

When David saw the angel striking the people, he said to the LORD,“ Look, I am the one who has sinned; I am the one who has done wrong. But these sheep, what have they done? Please, let your hand be against me and my father’s family.”

This is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies. They will turn their backs and run from their enemies, because they have been set apart for destruction. I will no longer be with you unless you remove from among you what is set apart.

David said to God,“ Wasn’t I the one who gave the order to count the people? I am the one who has sinned and acted very wickedly. But these sheep, what have they done? LORD my God, please let your hand be against me and against my father’s family, but don’t let the plague be against your people.”

Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner can destroy much good.

You’re not considering that it is to your advantage that one man should die for the people rather than the whole nation perish.”

Achan replied to Joshua,“ It is true. I have sinned against the LORD, the God of Israel. This is what I did:When I saw among the spoils a beautiful cloak from Babylon, five pounds of silver, and a bar of gold weighing a pound and a quarter, I coveted them and took them. You can see for yourself. They are concealed in the ground inside my tent, with the silver under the cloak.”

and said,‘ Don’t be afraid, Paul. It is necessary for you to appear before Caesar. And indeed, God has graciously given you all those who are sailing with you.’
