看哪，他們譏笑我說：『永恆主的話在哪裏？讓它來吧！』至於我呢，我並沒有催迫你降災禍，也沒有想望災殃的日子快來到呀；這是你知道的；我嘴裏出的話正在你面前呀。

我若說：『我不再去想起他，我不再奉他的名講論，』我心裏就像有火燒着，閉塞在我骨中；我含忍得不耐煩了，簡直不能自禁。

水手都懼怕，各向自己的神哀呼；他們將船上的物件拋擲在海中，要使他們輕鬆些。但約拿卻早已下到艙底，躺着沉睡呢。
