When the sun rose, God provided a scorching east wind, and the sun blazed on Jonah’s head so that he grew faint. He wanted to die, and said,“ It would be better for me to die than to live.”

When the sun rose, God sent a burning east wind. The sun beat down on Jonah’s head. It made him very weak. He wanted to die. So he said,“ I’d rather die than live.”

When the sun rose, God appointed a scorching east wind, and the sun beat down on the head of Jonah so that he was faint. And he asked that he might die and said,“ It is better for me to die than to live.”

And as the sun grew hot, God arranged for a scorching east wind to blow on Jonah. The sun beat down on his head until he grew faint and wished to die.“ Death is certainly better than living like this!” he exclaimed.

白天太陽不會傷你，夜間月亮不會害你。

耶和華啊，求你收回我的性命吧，我死了比活著還好！」

凡我所愛的，我都會責備、管教。因此，你要熱心起來，也要悔改。

但它被憤怒地連根拔起，拋在地上。東風吹乾了它的果實，粗壯的枝幹折斷枯乾，被火焚燒。

他們不再饑渴，也不再被熱風和烈日灼傷，因為憐憫他們的那位必引導他們，領他們到泉水邊。

但約伯回答說：「你說話像個愚昧的婦人。難道我們只從上帝手裡接受祝福，卻不接受災殃嗎？」約伯遭此不幸，仍毫無怨言。

耶和華安排了一條大魚，把約拿吞下，他在魚腹裡度過三天三夜。

摩西告訴亞倫：「耶和華曾說過，『我要在事奉我的人中顯明我的聖潔，在所有子民面前彰顯我的榮耀。』」亞倫默默無言。

後來，耶和華上帝安排了一棵蓖麻迅速地長起來，為約拿遮蔭，使他的頭免受日曬。約拿因有這棵蓖麻而非常歡喜。第二天黎明的時候，上帝卻安排了一條蟲來咬這棵蓖麻，蓖麻就枯萎了。

我默然不語，一言不發，因為我受的責罰是出於你。

撒母耳就一五一十地告訴了他。以利說：「祂是耶和華，祂看怎樣好，就怎樣行吧。」

王對撒督說：「你把上帝的約櫃運回城去吧。倘若耶和華恩待我，祂必使我重返家園，重見約櫃和會幕；但如果我使祂不悅，我也甘願聽憑祂的處置。

他們不會再受饑餓和乾渴的折磨，也不會再受太陽和酷熱的煎熬，

不要因為我被太陽曬黑就看不起我。這是因為我的兄弟惱恨我，要我在烈日之下看守葡萄園，使我無暇照顧自己。

然而，耶和華使海面起了狂風，滔天巨浪幾乎把船打成碎片。
