Jabin was the king of Hazor. He heard about the battles Israel had won. So he sent a message to Jobab. Jobab was the king of Madon. Jabin sent the same message to the kings of Shimron and Akshaph.

Joshua then turned back and captured Hazor and killed its king.( Hazor had at one time been the capital of all these kingdoms.)

So the Lord turned them over to King Jabin of Hazor, a Canaanite king. The commander of his army was Sisera, who lived in Harosheth haggoyim.

So King Adoni zedek of Jerusalem sent messengers to several other kings: Hoham of Hebron, Piram of Jarmuth, Japhia of Lachish, and Debir of Eglon.“ Come and help me destroy Gibeon,” he urged them,“ for they have made peace with Joshua and the people of Israel.”

Why are the nations so angry? Why do they waste their time with futile plans?The kings of the earth prepare for battle; the rulers plot together against the Lord and against his anointed one.“ Let us break their chains,” they cry,“ and free ourselves from slavery to God.”But the one who rules in heaven laughs. The Lord scoffs at them.

O Lord, they pay no attention to your upraised fist. Show them your eagerness to defend your people. Then they will be ashamed. Let your fire consume your enemies.

Meanwhile, Sisera ran to the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, because Heber’s family was on friendly terms with King Jabin of Hazor.

O God, do not be silent! Do not be deaf. Do not be quiet, O God.Don’t you hear the uproar of your enemies? Don’t you see that your arrogant enemies are rising up?They devise crafty schemes against your people; they conspire against your precious ones.
