For it was the Lord himself who hardened their hearts to wage war against Israel, so that he might destroy them totally, exterminating them without mercy, as the Lord had commanded Moses.

The Lord himself made their people stubborn. He made them go to war against Israel so he could totally destroy them. He wanted to wipe them out. He didn’t show them any mercy. The Lord had commanded Moses to destroy the Canaanites.

For it was the Lord’s doing to harden their hearts that they should come against Israel in battle, in order that they should be devoted to destruction and should receive no mercy but be destroyed, just as the Lord commanded Moses.

耶和華說：『誰去引誘亞哈上基列的拉末去陣亡呢？』這個就這樣說，那個就那樣說。隨後有一個神靈出來，站在耶和華面前，說：『我去引誘他。』耶和華問他說：『你用何法呢？』他說：『我去，要在他眾先知口中作謊言的靈。』耶和華說：『這樣，你必能引誘他，你去如此行吧！』現在耶和華使謊言的靈入了你這些先知的口，並且耶和華已經命定降禍與你。」 (cunpt)

先知與王說話的時候，王對他說：「誰立你作王的謀士呢？你住口吧！為何找打呢？」先知就止住了，又說：「你行這事，不聽從我的勸戒，我知道神定意要滅你。」 (cunpt)

人若得罪人，有士師審判他；人若得罪耶和華，誰能為他祈求呢？」然而他們還是不聽父親的話，因為耶和華想要殺他們。 (cunpt)
