Then Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave him Hebron as his inheritance.

And Joshua went up from Eglon, and all Israel with him, unto Hebron; and they fought against it:and they took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof, and all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining, according to all that he had done to Eglon; but he utterly destroyed it, and all the souls that were therein.

And unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a portion among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of Jehovah to Joshua, even Kiriath- arba, which Arba was the father of Anak( the same is Hebron).

Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace; and the God of Israel grant thy petition that thou hast asked of him.
