至於住耶路撒冷的耶布斯人、便雅憫人卻沒有把他們趕出；於是耶布斯人和便雅憫人就同住在耶路撒冷、直到今日。

猶大人攻打了耶路撒冷，將城攻取，用刀擊殺了城裏的人，放火燒城。

王和跟隨的人到了耶路撒冷、要攻打那地的居民耶布斯人；耶布斯人對大衛說道：『你不能進這裏來；只須瞎眼的瘸腿的便可以將你擊退』，意思是說：大衛總不能進那裏去。然而大衛卻攻取了錫安的營寨、就是大衛城。那一天大衛就說：『誰攻擊耶布斯人、到達水溝去擊打大衛心所恨惡的瘸子瞎子，誰就可以得到重賞。』因此有命令說：瞎眼的瘸腿的不得進聖殿。大衛住在營寨裏，把營寨叫做大衛城；大衛又從米羅向聖殿方面往裏、周圍築牆。

大衛和以色列眾人到了耶路撒冷、就是耶布斯；當時那地的居民耶布斯人就是在那裏。耶布斯的居民對大衛說：『你不能進這裏來。』然而大衛卻攻取了錫安的營寨、就是大衛城。大衛說：『誰先攻擊耶布斯人，誰就作統領、作元帥。』洗魯雅的兒子約押先上去，他就作了統領。大衛住在營寨裏；因此人把那營寨叫作大衛城。大衛又四圍重建那城，從米羅起、直到圍成一圈；城的其餘部分是由約押修建的。

我們曉得、律法是屬靈的；我卻是屬肉的，是賣在罪之下做奴僕的。因為我所作出來的、我竟不明白：我所願意的、我不去作；我所恨惡的、我倒去行。若我所不願意的、我倒去行，我就同意律法是好的了。其實呢、不再是我作出來的，乃是那住在我裏面的罪作出來的。我知道在我裏面、就是在我肉體之中、沒有善住着；因為志願呢、我雖有，把善作出來呢、我卻不能。因為我所願意的善、我不去行；我所不願意的惡、我倒去作。我所不願意的、我若去行，便不再是我作出來的，乃是住在我裏面的罪作出來的。所以我見得有個律：就是我願意行善的時候，總有惡和我同在。
