As for the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem to this day.

Judah could not dislodge the Jebusites, who were living in Jerusalem; to this day the Jebusites live there with the people of Judah.

Judah couldn’t drive out the Jebusites who were living in Jerusalem. So they live there with the people of Judah to this day.

But the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the people of Judah could not drive out, so the Jebusites dwell with the people of Judah at Jerusalem to this day.

But the tribe of Judah could not drive out the Jebusites, who lived in the city of Jerusalem, so the Jebusites live there among the people of Judah to this day.

But the descendants of Judah could not drive out the Jebusites who lived in Jerusalem. So the Jebusites still live in Jerusalem among the descendants of Judah today.

Now as for the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the sons of Judah could not drive them out; so the Jebusites live with the sons of Judah in Jerusalem to this day.

But the children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites who inhabited Jerusalem; so the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem to this day.

Now the children of Judah fought against Jerusalem and took it; they struck it with the edge of the sword and set the city on fire.

And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying,“ You shall not come in here; but the blind and the lame will repel you,” thinking,“ David cannot come in here.”Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion( that is, the City of David).Now David said on that day,“ Whoever climbs up by way of the water shaft and defeats the Jebusites( the lame and the blind, who are hated by David’s soul), he shall be chief and captain.” Therefore they say,“ The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.”Then David dwelt in the stronghold, and called it the City of David. And David built all around from the Millo and inward.

And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus, where the Jebusites were, the inhabitants of the land.But the inhabitants of Jebus said to David,“ You shall not come in here!” Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion( that is, the City of David).Now David said,“ Whoever attacks the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain.” And Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first, and became chief.Then David dwelt in the stronghold; therefore they called it the City of David.And he built the city around it, from the Millo to the surrounding area. Joab repaired the rest of the city.

For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin.For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good.But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.For I know that in me( that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find.For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice.Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good.
