Then it went down from Janoah to Ataroth and Naarah, touched Jericho and came out at the Jordan.

Their lands and settlements included Bethel and its surrounding villages, Naaran to the east, Gezer and its villages to the west, and Shechem and its villages all the way to Ayyah and its villages. (niv)

They left the mountains of Abarim and camped on the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho. (niv)

Now the gates of Jericho were securely barred because of the Israelites. No one went out and no one came in. (niv)

the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away, at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan, while the water flowing down to the Sea of the Arabah( that is, the Dead Sea) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite Jericho. (niv)

At that time Joshua pronounced this solemn oath:“ Cursed before the Lord is the one who undertakes to rebuild this city, Jericho:“ At the cost of his firstborn son he will lay its foundations; at the cost of his youngest he will set up its gates.” (niv)
