猶大人沒能把住在耶路撒冷的耶布斯人趕出去，他們至今仍然跟猶大人一同居住。

一定要趕走當地的居民，毀掉他們一切的石像和鑄像，拆毀他們所有的邱壇。你們要佔領那片土地，住在那裡，因為我已經把那裡賜給你們作產業了。你們要按宗族家系抽籤分配土地，人口多的多分，人口少的少分，抽到哪塊地就得哪塊地。如果你們不趕走那裡的居民，留下來的人必成為你們眼裡的刺和肋旁的荊棘，在你們所居之地攪擾你們，我也會用預備對付他們的方法來對付你們。』」

他們沒有趕走住在基色的迦南人，迦南人至今還住在以法蓮人當中，為他們服勞役。

所以，不要讓罪辖制你們必死的身體，使你們順從身體的私慾；也不要將你們的身體獻給罪作不義的工具，而是要像一個從死裡復活的人將自己奉獻給上帝，把身體獻給上帝作義的工具。罪不能再主宰你們，因為你們已經不在律法之下，而是在恩典之中。
