but the forested hill country as well. Clear it, and its farthest limits will be yours; though the Canaanites have chariots fitted with iron and though they are strong, you can drive them out.”

You will also have the central hill country. It’s covered with trees. Cut them down and clear the land. That whole land from one end to the other will belong to you. The Canaanites use chariots that have iron parts. And those people are strong. But you can drive them out.”

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?

So that with good courage we say, The Lord is my helper; I will not fear: What shall man do unto me?

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

And Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were of them that spied out the land, rent their clothes:and they spake unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to spy it out, is an exceeding good land.If Jehovah delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it unto us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.Only rebel not against Jehovah, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is removed from over them, and Jehovah is with us: fear them not.

When thou goest forth to battle against thine enemies, and seest horses, and chariots, and a people more than thou, thou shalt not be afraid of them; for Jehovah thy God is with thee, who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.And it shall be, when ye draw nigh unto the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak unto the people,and shall say unto them, Hear, O Israel, ye draw nigh this day unto battle against your enemies: let not your heart faint; fear not, nor tremble, neither be ye affrighted at them;for Jehovah your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.

Jehovah is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? Jehovah is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?When evil- doers came upon me to eat up my flesh, Even mine adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell.

And they set apart Kedesh in Galilee in the hill- country of Naphtali, and Shechem in the hill- country of Ephraim, and Kiriath- arba( the same is Hebron) in the hill- country of Judah.

fear thou not, for I am with thee; be not dismayed, for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.Behold, all they that are incensed against thee shall be put to shame and confounded: they that strive with thee shall be as nothing, and shall perish.Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contend with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.For I, Jehovah thy God, will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith Jehovah, and thy Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.Behold, I have made thee to be a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth; thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.Thou shalt winnow them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them; and thou shalt rejoice in Jehovah, thou shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.

And they went out, they and all their hosts with them, much people, even as the sand that is upon the sea- shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many.And all these kings met together; and they came and encamped together at the waters of Merom, to fight with Israel.And Jehovah said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them; for to- morrow at this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hock their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.

and the border extended from the top of the mountain unto the fountain of the waters of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of mount Ephron; and the border extended to Baalah( the same is Kiriath- jearim);

And Joshua said unto them, If thou be a great people, get thee up to the forest, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the Rephaim; since the hill- country of Ephraim is too narrow for thee.And the children of Joseph said, The hill- country is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are in Beth- shean and its towns, and they who are in the valley of Jezreel.

all the inhabitants of the hill- country from Lebanon unto Misrephoth- maim, even all the Sidonians; them will I drive out from before the children of Israel: only allot thou it unto Israel for an inheritance, as I have commanded thee.

I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou art afraid of man that shall die, and of the son of man that shall be made as grass;and hast forgotten Jehovah thy Maker, that stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and fearest continually all the day because of the fury of the oppressor, when he maketh ready to destroy? and where is the fury of the oppressor?
