but the forested hill country as well. Clear it, and its farthest limits will be yours; though the Canaanites have chariots fitted with iron and though they are strong, you can drive them out.”

You will also have the central hill country. It’s covered with trees. Cut them down and clear the land. That whole land from one end to the other will belong to you. The Canaanites use chariots that have iron parts. And those people are strong. But you can drive them out.”

but the hill country shall be yours, for though it is a forest, you shall clear it and possess it to its farthest borders. For you shall drive out the Canaanites, though they have chariots of iron, and though they are strong.”

The forests of the hill country will be yours as well. Clear as much of the land as you wish, and take possession of its farthest corners. And you will drive out the Canaanites from the valleys, too, even though they are strong and have iron chariots.”

打探迦南的人中，嫩的儿子约书亚和耶孚尼的儿子迦勒撕裂衣服，对以色列全体会众说：“我们去打探的地方是佳美之地。如果耶和华喜悦我们，祂必把我们带到那片土地，将那奶蜜之乡赐给我们。你们不要背叛耶和华，也不要害怕那里的人，他们不过是我们的猎物，他们已失去庇护。耶和华与我们同在，不要怕他们。”

“你们和敌人交战时，面对比你们强大的军队及战车战马，不要害怕，因为你们的上帝耶和华与你们同在，祂曾带领你们离开埃及。你们出战之前，祭司要上前鼓舞士气，说，‘以色列人啊，听着！今天你们要和敌人交战，不要胆怯，不要惧怕，也不要恐慌。因为你们的上帝耶和华要与你们同去，为你们争战，使你们得胜。’

耶和华是我的光，我的拯救，我还怕谁？耶和华是我的堡垒，我还怕谁？当恶人来吞吃我，仇敌来攻击我时，必失足跌倒。

于是，民众便设立拿弗他利山区加利利境内的基低斯、以法莲山区的示剑和犹大山区的基列·亚巴，即希伯仑作为避难城。

我是你的上帝，我必与你同在，你不用惊慌也不用害怕。我必赐你力量，帮助你，用我公义的右手扶持你。’“看啊，向你发怒的人必抱愧蒙羞；与你为敌的人都要灭亡，归于无有。你寻找与你相争的人，却找不到；与你争战的人必归于无有。因为我是你的上帝耶和华，我必拉着你的右手对你说，‘不要怕，我必帮助你。’“如蛆如虫的雅各啊，以色列人啊，不要怕！我耶和华必帮助你。以色列的圣者是你的救赎主。看啊，我要使你成为一具簇新、带许多利齿的打谷器。你要打烂高山，使丘陵碎如糠秕。你要簸它们，让风吹散它们，让狂风卷走它们。但你要以耶和华为喜乐，以以色列的圣者为荣耀。

这些王便率领自己的军队，带着许多马匹和战车倾巢出动，人数多如海边的沙。他们在米伦河会师，一同扎营，要跟以色列人交战。耶和华对约书亚说：“你不要惧怕他们。明天这个时候，我必把他们全部交给以色列人杀戮，你要砍断他们马匹的蹄筋，烧毁他们的战车。”

从山顶到尼弗多亚泉，到以弗仑山的各城，直到巴拉，即基列·耶琳；

约书亚对他们说：“如果你们人口众多，认为以法莲山区窄小，你们可以到比利洗人和利乏音人居住的地方开辟林区。”他们答道：“那些地方不够我们住，何况住在伯·善一带和耶斯列平原的迦南人都有铁战车。”

我必为以色列人赶走从黎巴嫩到米斯利弗·玛音一带山区的西顿人。你只管照我的吩咐，把这些土地分给以色列人作产业，

耶和华说：“安慰你们的是我，是我。你为什么要害怕难逃一死、生命如草芥的世人呢？难道你忘记了创造你、铺展穹苍、奠立大地根基的耶和华吗？难道因为试图毁灭你的欺压者大发怒气，你就整天惊恐不安吗？他们的怒气如今在哪里呢？
