but the forested hill country as well. Clear it, and its farthest limits will be yours; though the Canaanites have chariots fitted with iron and though they are strong, you can drive them out.”

You will also have the central hill country. It’s covered with trees. Cut them down and clear the land. That whole land from one end to the other will belong to you. The Canaanites use chariots that have iron parts. And those people are strong. But you can drive them out.”

but the hill country shall be yours, for though it is a forest, you shall clear it and possess it to its farthest borders. For you shall drive out the Canaanites, though they have chariots of iron, and though they are strong.”

The forests of the hill country will be yours as well. Clear as much of the land as you wish, and take possession of its farthest corners. And you will drive out the Canaanites from the valleys, too, even though they are strong and have iron chariots.”

窺探迦南地者中嫩之子約書亞、耶孚尼子迦勒、自裂其衣、告以色列會眾曰、我所經行窺探之地、乃甚美之地、主若悅我、必導我至其地、以之賜我、是地流乳與蜜、惟毋叛主、毋懼其地之居民、我必滅之、易如吞餅、彼無護衛、我儕蒙主庇祐主庇祐原文作主偕我毋懼之、

爾出與敵戰、見車馬軍卒、較爾眾多、則毋畏懼、因主爾之天主、昔導爾出伊及者必祐爾、爾臨戰時、祭司當至民前宣告曰、以色列人聽之哉、爾今日攻敵、臨戰毋怯心、毋畏懼、毋驚恐、毋因敵而戰慄、因主爾之天主與爾偕往、為爾攻敵以拯救爾、以拯救爾或作使爾獲勝

主為我之光明、乃我之救主、我尚懼誰耶、主為我生命之保障、我尚畏誰耶、作惡之類、即我之仇人、我之敵人、前來攻我、欲食我肉、彼皆傾跌顛仆、

於是以色列人在拿弗他利山地、擇加利利之基叠、在以法蓮山地、擇示劍、在猶大山地、擇基列亞巴、基列亞巴即希伯崙、

毋畏葸、我必祐爾、勿膽怯、我乃爾之天主、必堅強爾、濟助爾、我必以施救之右手扶持爾、怒爾者、必抱愧蒙羞、敵爾者、必皆滅亡、歸於無有、與爾戰者、爾尋之不見、攻爾者、必歸於無有、成為虛無、蓋我即主爾之天主、援爾右手、謂爾曰、勿恐懼、我救濟爾、主云、爾如蚯蚓之雅各、爾曹以色列人乎、勿畏懼、我救濟爾、贖爾者、乃以色列之聖主、我將使爾如打榖之器、新製而有利齒、使爾擊碎山岡、擣之成粉、使如糠秕、爾必簸揚、任風吹之、狂風散之、惟爾必因主而歡樂、恃以色列之聖主為榮、○

此諸王率其軍旅而出、其人多如海濱之沙、車馬亦甚眾、列王咸集、至米倫水、同列其營、欲與以色列人戰、主諭約書亞曰、勿因之而懼、明日此時、我將斯眾付於以色列人、俱為其所殺、爾當傷其馬之足、以火焚其車輛、

其界自山巔至尼弗多亞水泉、至以弗崙山之諸邑、又至巴拉、巴拉即基列耶琳、

約書亞曰、爾既族大、以法蓮山又狹小、則可往比利洗利乏音地之山林、伐其木而得地以居、約瑟子孫曰、我不能至其山、或作此山狹小居之不足焉因居平原之迦南人有鐵車、居伯善與其鄉里、及居耶斯列平原者、亦有鐵車、

山地居民、自利巴嫩至米斯利弗瑪音、一切西頓人、我必驅逐於以色列人前、惟爾當遵我所命爾者、鬮分其地、予以色列人為業、

主曰、慰藉爾者惟我、惟我、爾為誰、竟懼必死之人、畏彼似草萊之世人、世人或作亞當之子乃忘張天奠地造爾之主、強暴之人、預備殺戮之時、爾終日戰慄、畏其烈怒、究之強暴人之烈怒、果安在乎、
