They gave them Kiriath Arba( that is, Hebron), with its surrounding pastureland, in the hill country of Judah.( Arba was the forefather of Anak.)

不久，瑪麗亞便動身趕到猶太山區的一座城，

以色列各支派都來希伯崙見大衛，對他說：「我們是你的骨肉同胞。從前掃羅做王的時候，率領以色列人出征打仗的是你，耶和華也曾應許讓你做祂以色列子民的牧者和首領。」以色列的長老都到希伯崙見大衛王，大衛與他們在耶和華面前立約，他們膏立大衛做以色列的王。大衛三十歲登基，執政共四十年。他在希伯崙統治猶大七年半，在耶路撒冷統治以色列和猶大三十三年。

過了四年，押沙龍對王說：「請讓我到希伯崙去還我向耶和華許下的願吧。

這事以後，大衛求問耶和華：「我可以回到猶大的城邑嗎？」耶和華說：「可以。」大衛又問：「我應該回到哪一座城呢？」耶和華說：「希伯崙。」大衛就帶著他的兩個妻子耶斯列人亞希暖和迦密人拿八的遺孀亞比該，一起上到希伯崙。他還把部下和他們的家屬一起帶去，住在希伯崙地區的城邑。

於是，民眾便設立拿弗他利山區加利利境內的基低斯、以法蓮山區的示劍和猶大山區的基列·亞巴，即希伯崙作為避難城。他們又在約旦河、耶利哥東面空曠的平原上設立呂便支派的比悉，迦得支派基列境內的拉末和瑪拿西支派巴珊境內的哥蘭作為避難城。這是為以色列人和那些從外地來寄居的人所設立的避難城，誤殺了人的可以逃到那裡，不致未在會眾面前受審便死在報仇的人手裡。

宏他、基列·亞巴——即希伯崙、洗珥，共九座城及其附近的鄉村。

雅各來到他父親以撒住的幔利，即基列·亞巴，也就是亞伯拉罕和以撒寄居的地方。基列·亞巴就是希伯崙。

希伯崙從前名叫基列·亞巴，亞巴原是亞衲族中最偉大的人。從此，境內太平，沒有戰爭。
