耶和華就會為你們趕走那些比你們強大的民族，你們也必佔領他們的土地。

你要遵行我今天的吩咐。我必從你面前驅逐亞摩利人、迦南人、赫人、比利洗人、希未人和耶布斯人。

如果你們悖逆，跟你們當中剩下的異族人聯合，通婚往來，毫無疑問，你們的上帝耶和華必不再為你們趕走他們。相反，他們還要成為設在你們當中的圈套和陷阱，你們的肉中刺、眼中釘，直到你們在你們的上帝耶和華所賜給你們的這塊美好的土地上滅亡。

一定要趕走當地的居民，毀掉他們一切的石像和鑄像，拆毀他們所有的邱壇。你們要佔領那片土地，住在那裡，因為我已經把那裡賜給你們作產業了。

我會逐漸地趕走他們，直到你們人丁興旺，可以佔據那片土地。我給你定下國界，從紅海到非利士海岸，從曠野到幼發拉底河。我要把其中所有的人都交在你手中，你要把他們全部趕出去。
