And in the same way, wasn’t Rahab the prostitute also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by a different route?

But the law is not based on faith; instead, the one who does these things will live by them.

I will bless those who bless you, I will curse those who treat you with contempt, and all the peoples on earth will be blessed through you.

On the contrary, we speak God’s hidden wisdom in a mystery, a wisdom God predestined before the ages for our glory.

Rise and thresh, Daughter Zion, for I will make your horns iron and your hooves bronze, so you can crush many peoples. Then you will set apart their plunder to the Lord for destruction, their wealth to the Lord of all the earth.

By faith Rahab the prostitute received the spies in peace and didn’t perish with those who disobeyed.

The Israelites, however, were unfaithful regarding the things set apart for destruction. Achan son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of what was set apart, and the Lord’s anger burned against the Israelites.

Joshua said to the two men who had scouted the land,“ Go to the prostitute’s house and bring the woman out of there, and all who are with her, just as you promised her.”So the young men who had scouted went in and brought out Rahab and her father, mother, brothers, and all who belonged to her. They brought out her whole family and settled them outside the camp of Israel.

Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two men as spies from the Acacia Grove, saying,“ Go and scout the land, especially Jericho.” So they left, and they came to the house of a woman, a prostitute named Rahab, and stayed there.

If anyone does not love the Lord, a curse be on him. Marantha that is, Lord, come!

The Lord’s sword is covered with blood. It drips with fat, with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams. For the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah, a great slaughter in the land of Edom.

But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them. Then Israel made a vow to the Lord,“ If You will deliver this people into our hands, we will completely destroy their cities.”The Lord listened to Israel’s request, the Canaanites were defeated, and Israel completely destroyed them and their cities. So they named the place Hormah.

Whoever did not come within three days would forfeit all his possessions, according to the decision of the leaders and elders, and would be excluded from the assembly of the exiles.
