於是約書亞誓曰、凡建耶利哥、當服詛於耶和華前、築基時、必喪長子、置門時、必喪季子。

At that time Joshua pronounced this solemn oath:“ Cursed before the Lord is the one who undertakes to rebuild this city, Jericho:“ At the cost of his firstborn son he will lay its foundations; at the cost of his youngest he will set up its gates.”

At that time Joshua made a promise and called down a curse. He said,“ May the person who tries to rebuild this city of Jericho be under the Lord’ s curse.“ If that person lays its foundations, it will cost the life of his oldest son. If he sets up its gates, it will cost the life of his youngest son.”

Joshua laid an oath on them at that time, saying,“ Cursed before the Lord be the man who rises up and rebuilds this city, Jericho.“ At the cost of his firstborn shall he lay its foundation, and at the cost of his youngest son shall he set up its gates.”

At that time Joshua invoked this curse:“ May the curse of the Lord fall on anyone who tries to rebuild the town of Jericho. At the cost of his firstborn son, he will lay its foundation. At the cost of his youngest son, he will set up its gates.”

At that time Joshua imposed this curse: The man who undertakes the rebuilding of this city, Jericho, is cursed before the LORD. He will lay its foundation at the cost of his firstborn; he will finish its gates at the cost of his youngest.

Then Joshua made them take an oath at that time, saying,“ Cursed before the Lord is the man who rises up and builds this city Jericho; with the loss of his firstborn he will lay its foundation, and with the loss of his youngest son he will set up its gates.”

Then Joshua charged them at that time, saying,“ Cursed be the man before the Lord who rises up and builds this city Jericho; he shall lay its foundation with his firstborn, and with his youngest he shall set up its gates.”

And Joshua charged them with an oath at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before Jehovah, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: with the loss of his first- born shall he lay the foundation thereof, and with the loss of his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.

At that time Joshua imposed this curse: The man who undertakes the rebuilding of this city, Jericho, is cursed before the Lord. He will lay its foundation at the cost of his firstborn; he will set up its gates at the cost of his youngest.

And Joshua adjured[ them] at that time, saying, Cursed[ be] the man before the LORD, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest[ son] shall he set up the gates of it.

At that time Joshua made this solemn declaration:“ The man who attempts to rebuild this city of Jericho will stand condemned before the LORD. He will lose his firstborn son when he lays its foundations and his youngest son when he erects its gates!”

Joshua commanded them with an oath at that time, saying,“ Cursed is the man before Yahweh who rises up and builds this city Jericho. With the loss of his firstborn he will lay its foundation, and with the loss of his youngest son he will set up its gates.”

耶穌卻不言語。大祭司對他說：「我指着永生神叫你起誓告訴我們，你是神的兒子基督不是？」

那時，有幾個遊行各處、念咒趕鬼的猶太人，向那被惡鬼附的人擅自稱主耶穌的名，說：「我奉保羅所傳的耶穌勅令你們出來！」

要叫婦人起誓，對她說：『若沒有人與你行淫，也未曾背着丈夫做污穢的事，你就免受這致咒詛苦水的災。你若背着丈夫行了污穢的事，在你丈夫以外有人與你行淫，（祭司叫婦人發咒起誓），願耶和華叫你大腿消瘦，肚腹發脹，使你在你民中被人咒詛，成了誓語；

掃羅叫百姓起誓說，凡不等到晚上向敵人報完了仇吃甚麼的，必受咒詛。因此這日百姓沒有吃甚麼，就極其困憊。眾民進入樹林，見有蜜在地上。他們進了樹林，見有蜜流下來，卻沒有人敢用手取蜜入口，因為他們怕那誓言。約拿單沒有聽見他父親叫百姓起誓，所以伸手中的杖，用杖頭蘸在蜂房裏，轉手送入口內，眼睛就明亮了。百姓中有一人對他說：「你父親曾叫百姓嚴嚴地起誓說，今日吃甚麼的，必受咒詛；因此百姓就疲乏了。」約拿單說：「我父親連累你們了。你看，我嘗了這一點蜜，眼睛就明亮了。今日百姓若任意吃了從仇敵所奪的物，擊殺的非利士人豈不更多嗎？」這日，以色列人擊殺非利士人，從密抹直到亞雅崙。百姓甚是疲乏，就急忙將所奪的牛羊和牛犢宰於地上，肉還帶血就吃了。有人告訴掃羅說：「百姓吃帶血的肉，得罪耶和華了。」掃羅說：「你們有罪了，今日要將大石頭滾到我這裏來。」掃羅又說：「你們散在百姓中，對他們說，你們各人將牛羊牽到我這裏來宰了吃，不可吃帶血的肉得罪耶和華。」這夜，百姓就把牛羊牽到那裏宰了。掃羅為耶和華築了一座壇，這是他初次為耶和華築的壇。掃羅說：「我們不如夜裏下去追趕非利士人，搶掠他們，直到天亮，不留他們一人。」眾民說：「你看怎樣好就去行吧！」祭司說：「我們先當親近神。」掃羅求問神說：「我下去追趕非利士人可以不可以？你將他們交在以色列人手裏不交？」這日神沒有回答他。掃羅說：「你們百姓中的長老都上這裏來，查明今日是誰犯了罪。我指着救以色列－永生的耶和華起誓，就是我兒子約拿單犯了罪，他也必死。」但百姓中無一人回答他。掃羅就對以色列眾人說：「你們站在一邊，我與我兒子約拿單也站在一邊。」百姓對掃羅說：「你看怎樣好就去行吧！」掃羅禱告耶和華－以色列的神說：「求你指示實情。」於是掣籤掣出掃羅和約拿單來；百姓盡都無事。掃羅說：「你們再掣籤，看是我，是我兒子約拿單」，就掣出約拿單來。掃羅對約拿單說：「你告訴我，你做了甚麼事？」約拿單說：「我實在以手裏的杖，用杖頭蘸了一點蜜嘗了一嘗。這樣我就死嗎？」掃羅說：「約拿單哪，你定要死！若不然，願神重重地降罰與我。」百姓對掃羅說：「約拿單在以色列人中這樣大行拯救，豈可使他死呢？斷乎不可！我們指着永生的耶和華起誓，連他的一根頭髮也不可落地，因為他今日與神一同做事。」於是百姓救約拿單免了死亡。掃羅回去，不追趕非利士人；非利士人也回本地去了。

王對他說：「我當囑咐你幾次，你才奉耶和華的名向我說實話呢？」
