他們拿下押沙龍，把他丟在樹林中一個大坑裏，上頭堆起一大堆石頭。以色列眾人都逃跑，各回自己的帳棚去了。

他們要在坑中了結我的性命，丟石頭在我身上。

要對耶路撒冷說安慰的話，向它宣告，它的戰爭已結束，它的罪孽已赦免；它為自己一切的罪，已從耶和華手中加倍受罰。」

耶和華為自己的地發熱心，憐憫他的百姓。

你們要撕裂心腸，不要撕裂衣服。歸向耶和華－你們的神，因為他有恩惠，有憐憫，不輕易發怒，有豐盛的慈愛，並且會改變心意，不降那災難。

他又呼叫我，告訴我說：「你看，往北方地去的已在北方之地使我放心。」

尼哥德慕問他：「怎麼能有這些事呢？」耶穌回答，對他說：「你是以色列人的老師，還不明白這些事嗎？

他們將掃羅和他兒子約拿單的骸骨葬在便雅憫的洗拉，在掃羅父親基士的墳墓裏。他們遵照王所吩咐的一切做了。此後神垂聽了為那地的祈求。

日落的時候，約書亞吩咐人把屍首從樹上取下來，丟在他們躲過的洞裏，把幾塊大石頭放在洞口，直存到今日。
