“ The tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. Hold a sacred assembly and deny yourselves, and present a food offering to the Lord.

“ The tenth day of the seventh month is the day when sin is paid for. Come together for a special service. Do not eat any food. Bring a food offering to the Lord.

“ Now on the tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. It shall be for you a time of holy convocation, and you shall afflict yourselves and present a food offering to the Lord.

“ Be careful to celebrate the Day of Atonement on the tenth day of that same month— nine days after the Festival of Trumpets. You must observe it as an official day for holy assembly, a day to deny yourselves and present special gifts to the Lord.

“ The tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. You are to hold a sacred assembly and practice self-denial; you are to present a food offering to the LORD.

“ On exactly the tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement; it shall be a holy convocation for you, and you shall humble yourselves and present an offering by fire to the Lord.

“ Also the tenth day of this seventh month shall be the Day of Atonement. It shall be a holy convocation for you; you shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire to the Lord.

Howbeit on the tenth day of this seventh month is the day of atonement: it shall be a holy convocation unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto Jehovah.

“ The tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. You are to hold a sacred assembly and practice self-denial; you are to present a fire offering to the Lord.

“ However on the tenth day of this seventh month is the day of atonement. It shall be a holy convocation to you. You shall afflict yourselves and you shall offer an offering made by fire to Yahweh.

“每逢七月十日，你們要刻苦己心，無論是本地人，或是寄居在你們中間的外人，甚麼的工，你們都不可作，這要作你們永遠的律例。因為在這一天，他要為你們贖罪，使你們潔淨，脫離你們一切罪孽，使你們在耶和華面前成為潔淨。這是完全休歇的安息，你們要刻苦己心。這是永遠的律例。

“然後他要宰殺那為人民作贖罪祭的公山羊，把血帶進幔子裡，彈羊血在施恩座的上面和施恩座的前面，好像彈公牛的血一樣。

亞倫每年一次要在壇的四角上行贖罪禮，每一次他都要用贖罪祭牲的血在壇上行贖罪禮；你們世世代代都要這樣行，這壇要歸耶和華為至聖。”

然後在聖潔的地方用水洗身，穿回自己的衣服出來，把自己的燔祭和眾民的燔祭獻上，為自己和眾民贖罪。

“亞倫要先為自己獻上作贖罪祭的公牛，為自己和家人贖罪，他要把那為自己作贖罪祭的公牛宰殺。

在七月初十，你要吹角，在贖罪日，角聲要響遍你的全地。

那時，我但以理悲傷了三個星期。美味的食物我沒有吃，肉和酒沒有入我的口，我也沒有用膏油抹身，整整三個星期。

他們聽了以後，覺得扎心，就對彼得和其餘的使徒說：“弟兄們，我們應當作甚麼呢？”彼得說：“你們應當悔改，並且每一個人都要奉耶穌基督的名受洗，使你們的罪得赦，就必領受聖靈，那白白的恩典。

“‘在七月十日，你們要有聖會，刻苦己心，甚麼都不可作，只要把燔祭作馨香的祭獻給耶和華，就是一頭公牛犢、一隻公綿羊、七隻一歲沒有殘疾的公羊羔。同獻的素祭，是用油調和的細麵，為每頭公牛要獻三公斤；為每隻公綿羊要獻兩公斤。為那七隻公羊羔，每隻要獻一公斤；在為贖罪的贖罪祭、常獻的燔祭和同獻的素祭，以及同獻的奠祭以外，還要獻一隻公山羊作贖罪祭。

因為依照神的意思而有的憂傷，可以生出沒有懊悔的悔改，以致得救；世俗的憂傷卻會招致死亡。看哪，你們依照神的意思憂傷，在你們中間就產生了怎樣的熱情、申訴、憤慨、戰兢、渴望、熱誠、正義；你們在各方面都表明了自己在那事上是清白的。

“那時，我在亞哈瓦河邊那裡宣告禁食，為要在我們的神面前謙卑下來，為自己和我們的孩子，以及我們所有的財物尋求神指示一條暢通的道路。

“我必把那恩慈與懇求的靈傾注在大衛家和耶路撒冷居民的身上。他們必仰望我，就是他們所刺的；他們要為他哀哭，好像喪獨生子；他們必為他悲痛，好像喪長子。

使人刻苦自己的日子，這樣的禁食是我揀選的嗎？難道只是叫人垂頭像一根葦子，用麻布和爐灰鋪在下面嗎？你可以稱這是禁食，為耶和華所悅納的日子嗎？

你們要愁苦、悲哀、哭泣，把歡笑變為傷痛，把快樂變為憂愁。

至於我，他們有病的時候，我就穿上麻衣，禁食刻苦己心；我心裡也不住地禱告（“我心裡也不住地禱告”原文作“我的禱告都回到自己的懷中”）。
