但他們中間卻有人說：『他趕鬼是靠着鬼王別西卜趕的。』

但其中有些人卻說：「他是靠鬼魔的王別西卜驅趕鬼魔的。」

中有數人曰、彼藉鬼王別西卜逐鬼耳、

有數人曰、彼藉鬼王別西卜以逐鬼耳、

中有數人曰、彼逐魔、無非賴魔王別西卜耳、

惟有人則曰：『彼之袪鬼、乃恃魔王白責布爾之力也。』

But some of them said,“ By Beelzebul, the prince of demons, he is driving out demons.”

But some of them said,“ Jesus is driving out demons by the power of Beelzebul, the prince of demons.”

But some of them said,“ He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of demons,”

But some of them said,“ He drives out demons by Beelzebul, the ruler of the demons.”

But some of them said,“ He casts out the demons by Beelzebul, the ruler of the demons.”

But some of them said,“ He casts out demons by Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.”

But some of them said, By Beelzebub the prince of the demons casteth he out demons.

But some of them said,“ He drives out demons by Beelzebul, the ruler of the demons!”

But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils.

But some of them said,“ By the power of Beelzebul, the ruler of demons, he casts out demons.”

But some of them said,“ He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons.”

But the Pharisees said,“ He can cast out demons because he is empowered by the prince of demons.”

But the teachers of religious law who had arrived from Jerusalem said,“ He’s possessed by Satan, the prince of demons. That’s where he gets the power to cast out demons.”Jesus called them over and responded with an illustration.“ How can Satan cast out Satan?” he asked.“ A kingdom divided by civil war will collapse.Similarly, a family splintered by feuding will fall apart.And if Satan is divided and fights against himself, how can he stand? He would never survive.Let me illustrate this further. Who is powerful enough to enter the house of a strong man and plunder his goods? Only someone even stronger— someone who could tie him up and then plunder his house.“ I tell you the truth, all sin and blasphemy can be forgiven,but anyone who blasphemes the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. This is a sin with eternal consequences.”He told them this because they were saying,“ He’s possessed by an evil spirit.”

The people retorted,“ You Samaritan devil! Didn’t we say all along that you were possessed by a demon?”

But when the Pharisees heard about the miracle, they said,“ No wonder he can cast out demons. He gets his power from Satan, the prince of demons.”Jesus knew their thoughts and replied,“ Any kingdom divided by civil war is doomed. A town or family splintered by feuding will fall apart.And if Satan is casting out Satan, he is divided and fighting against himself. His own kingdom will not survive.And if I am empowered by Satan, what about your own exorcists? They cast out demons, too, so they will condemn you for what you have said.But if I am casting out demons by the Spirit of God, then the Kingdom of God has arrived among you.For who is powerful enough to enter the house of a strong man and plunder his goods? Only someone even stronger— someone who could tie him up and then plunder his house.“ Anyone who isn’t with me opposes me, and anyone who isn’t working with me is actually working against me.

The people said,“ Now we know you are possessed by a demon. Even Abraham and the prophets died, but you say,‘ Anyone who obeys my teaching will never die!’

Some said,“ He’s demon possessed and out of his mind. Why listen to a man like that?”

Students are to be like their teacher, and slaves are to be like their master. And since I, the master of the household, have been called the prince of demons, the members of my household will be called by even worse names!

You say I am empowered by Satan. But if Satan is divided and fighting against himself, how can his kingdom survive?And if I am empowered by Satan, what about your own exorcists? They cast out demons, too, so they will condemn you for what you have said.

The crowd replied,“ You’re demon possessed! Who’s trying to kill you?”
