亚伯拉罕说：‘孩子，你应该回想你生前享过福，同样拉撒路受过苦，现在他在这里得安慰，你却要受苦了。

“可是亚伯拉罕说：‘孩子啊，你当想起，你一生怎样享了你的福，而拉撒路怎样受了苦；但如今他在这里受到安慰，你却在痛苦中。

亞伯拉罕說：「孩子，你該回想你一生受盡了你的美物，而拉撒路也照樣受盡了禍患；如今他在這裏得慰藉，你倒受慘苦了！

「可是亞伯拉罕說：『孩子啊，你當想起，你一生怎樣享了你的福，而拉撒路怎樣受了苦；但如今他在這裡受到安慰，你卻在痛苦中。

“ But Abraham replied,‘ Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony.

“ But Abraham replied,‘ Son, remember what happened in your lifetime. You received your good things. Lazarus received bad things. Now he is comforted here, and you are in terrible pain.

But Abraham said,‘ Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish.

“ But Abraham said to him,‘ Son, remember that during your lifetime you had everything you wanted, and Lazarus had nothing. So now he is here being comforted, and you are in anguish.

“‘ Son,’ Abraham said,‘ remember that during your life you received your good things, just as Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here, while you are in agony.

But Abraham said,‘ Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony.

But Abraham said,‘ Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented.

But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and Lazarus in like manner evil things: but now here he is comforted, and thou art in anguish.

“‘ Son,’ Abraham said,‘ remember that during your life you received your good things, just as Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here, while you are in agony.

But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

But Abraham said,‘ Child, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things and Lazarus likewise bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in anguish.

“ But Abraham said,‘ Son, remember that you, in your lifetime, received your good things, and Lazarus, in the same way, bad things. But here he is now comforted, and you are in anguish.

“ But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort. (niv)

By your hand save me from such people, Lord, from those of this world whose reward is in this life. May what you have stored up for the wicked fill their bellies; may their children gorge themselves on it, and may there be leftovers for their little ones. (niv)

And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. (niv)

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. (niv)

so that no one would be unsettled by these trials. For you know quite well that we are destined for them. (niv)

“ I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (niv)

Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things. (niv)

“ But you, Belshazzar, his son, have not humbled yourself, though you knew all this.Instead, you have set yourself up against the Lord of heaven. You had the goblets from his temple brought to you, and you and your nobles, your wives and your concubines drank wine from them. You praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or understand. But you did not honor the God who holds in his hand your life and all your ways. (niv)

strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith.“ We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said. (niv)

I answered,“ Sir, you know.” And he said,“ These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. (niv)

The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. (niv)

From their callous hearts comes iniquity; their evil imaginations have no limits. (niv)

This is what the wicked are like— always free of care, they go on amassing wealth.Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure and have washed my hands in innocence.All day long I have been afflicted, and every morning brings new punishments.If I had spoken out like that, I would have betrayed your children.When I tried to understand all this, it troubled me deeplytill I entered the sanctuary of God; then I understood their final destiny.Surely you place them on slippery ground; you cast them down to ruin.How suddenly are they destroyed, completely swept away by terrors! Their tombs will remain their houses forever, their dwellings for endless generations, though they had named lands after themselves. (niv)

In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. (niv)

I have seen a wicked and ruthless man flourishing like a luxuriant native tree,but he soon passed away and was no more; though I looked for him, he could not be found. (niv)

That very night Belshazzar, king of the Babylonians, was slain, (niv)

Yet it was he who filled their houses with good things, so I stand aloof from the plans of the wicked. (niv)

He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. (niv)

In the days of her affliction and wandering Jerusalem remembers all the treasures that were hers in days of old. When her people fell into enemy hands, there was no one to help her. Her enemies looked at her and laughed at her destruction. (niv)

At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores (niv)

They spend their years in prosperity and go down to the grave in peace.Yet they say to God,‘ Leave us alone! We have no desire to know your ways. (niv)
