過了安息日，抹大拉的馬利亞、雅各的母親馬利亞，和撒羅米，買了香料，要去膏耶穌的身體。

七日的第一日，黎明的時候，那些婦女帶着所預備的香料來到墳墓那裏，

葬在大衛城自己所鑿的墳墓裏。人把他放在床上，床上堆滿各樣馨香的香料，就是按做香的作法調和的香料，又為他生一堆大火誌哀。

「當記念安息日，守為聖日。六日要勞碌做你一切的工，但第七日是向耶和華－你的神當守的安息日。這一日你和你的兒女、奴僕、婢女、牲畜，以及你城裏寄居的客旅，都不可做任何的工。

你若禁止自己的腳踐踏安息日，不在我的聖日做自己高興的事，稱安息日為「可喜樂的」，稱耶和華的聖日為「可尊重的」，尊敬這日，不走自己的道路，不求自己的喜悅，也不隨意說話；那麼，你就會以耶和華為樂。耶和華要使你乘駕於地的高處，又要以你祖先雅各的產業養育你；這是耶和華親口說的。

但第七日是向耶和華－你的神當守的安息日。這一日，你和你的兒女、僕婢、牛、驢、牲畜，以及你城裏寄居的客旅，都不可做任何的工，使你的僕婢可以和你一樣休息。

「你們若留意聽從我，在安息日不挑甚麼擔子進入這城的各門，只以安息日為聖日，在那日不做任何工作，這是耶和華說的，就必有坐大衛寶座的君王和領袖，與猶大人，並耶路撒冷的居民，或坐車，或騎馬，進入這城的各門，而且這城必存到永遠。

你們要守安息日，以它為聖日。凡干犯這日的，必被處死；凡在這日做工的，那人必從百姓中剪除。

六日要做工，第七日你們要奉為向耶和華守完全安息的安息聖日。凡在這日做工的，要被處死。在安息日這一天，不可在你們一切的住處生火。」
