也有士兵问他说：“我们该做什么呢？”约翰说：“不要勒索任何人，也不要敲诈人；自己有粮饷就该知足。”

有些军人问：“我们该怎么办呢？”约翰说：“不可敲诈勒索，自己有粮饷就当知足。”

兵丁也问他：“至于我们，我们又应当作什么呢？”他说：“不要恐吓，不要敲诈，当以自己的粮饷为满足。”

有些当兵的也问他，说：“那么我们呢？我们该做什么呢？”约翰说：“不要敲诈任何人，也不要勒索人，当以自己的粮饷为满足。”

有些當兵的也問他，說：「那麼我們呢？我們該做什麼呢？」約翰說：「不要敲詐任何人，也不要勒索人，當以自己的糧餉為滿足。」

有軍士問曰、我當何為、曰、毋強暴、毋誣詐、惟安爾餉、○

兵卒亦問曰、我當何為、曰、勿強索人、勿誣詐人、以所得之糧為足、○

軍士亦問曰：『吾儕如何？』曰：『毋凌人！毋誣人！安於餉。』

Then some soldiers asked him,“ And what should we do?” He replied,“ Don’t extort money and don’t accuse people falsely— be content with your pay.”

Then some soldiers asked him,“ And what should we do?” John replied,“ Don’t force people to give you money. Don’t bring false charges against people. Be happy with your pay.”

Soldiers also asked him,“ And we, what shall we do?” And he said to them,“ Do not extort money from anyone by threats or by false accusation, and be content with your wages.”

“ What should we do?” asked some soldiers. John replied,“ Don’t extort money or make false accusations. And be content with your pay.”

Some soldiers also questioned him,“ What should we do?” He said to them,“ Don’t take money from anyone by force or false accusation, and be satisfied with your wages.”

And soldiers also were questioning him, saying,“ What are we to do, we as well?” And he said to them,“ Do not extort money from anyone, nor harass anyone, and be content with your wages.”

Likewise the soldiers asked him, saying,“ And what shall we do?” So he said to them,“ Do not intimidate anyone or accuse falsely, and be content with your wages.”

And soldiers also asked him, saying, And we, what must we do? And he said unto them, Extort from no man by violence, neither accuse any one wrongfully; and be content with your wages.

Some soldiers also questioned him:“ What should we do?” He said to them,“ Don’t take money from anyone by force or false accusation; be satisfied with your wages.”

And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse[ any] falsely; and be content with your wages.

Then some soldiers also asked him,“ And as for us– what should we do?” He told them,“ Take money from no one by violence or by false accusation, and be content with your pay.”

Soldiers also asked him, saying,“ What about us? What must we do?” He said to them,“ Extort from no one by violence, neither accuse anyone wrongfully. Be content with your wages.”

“ Do not spread false reports. Do not help a guilty person by being a malicious witness. (niv)

“ You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. (niv)

I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. (niv)

“‘ Do not steal.“‘ Do not lie.“‘ Do not deceive one another. (niv)

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,“ Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”So we say with confidence,“ The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” (niv)

But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. (niv)

so that you may become blameless and pure,“ children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky (niv)

Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say:“ Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. (niv)

Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. (niv)
