孩子啊，你要称为至高者的先知；因为你要走在主的前面，为他预备道路，叫他的百姓因罪得赦，认识救恩；因我们神怜悯的心肠，叫清晨的日光从高天临到我们，要照亮坐在黑暗中死荫里的人，把我们的脚引到和平的路上。’”

这人来是为了作见证，是为那光作见证，要使众人藉着他而信。

在旷野有声音呼喊着：预备主的道，修直他的路。”

他要使许多以色列人回转，归于主—他们的神。他将有以利亚的精神和能力，走在主的前面，叫父亲的心转向儿女，叫悖逆的人转向义人的智慧，又为主预备迎接他的百姓。”

这人就是以赛亚先知所说的：“在旷野有声音呼喊着：预备主的道，修直他的路。”

他必使父亲的心转向儿女，儿女的心转向父亲，免得我来诅咒这地。”

耶和华说：“你们要修筑，修筑，要预备道路，除掉我百姓路中的绊脚石。”

你们当从门经过，经过，预备百姓的路。你们要修筑，修筑大道，清除石头，为万民竖立大旗。
