When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. Truly I tell you, you will not finish going through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes. (niv)

But they found out about it and fled to the Lycaonian cities of Lystra and Derbe and to the surrounding country,where they continued to preach the gospel. (niv)

They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach.The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law.Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit cried out,“ What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are— the Holy One of God!”“ Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly.“ Come out of him!”The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.The people were all so amazed that they asked each other,“ What is this? A new teaching— and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.”News about him spread quickly over the whole region of Galilee. (niv)

But the Jewish leaders incited the God- fearing women of high standing and the leading men of the city. They stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region.So they shook the dust off their feet as a warning to them and went to Iconium.And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.At Iconium Paul and Barnabas went as usual into the Jewish synagogue. There they spoke so effectively that a great number of Jews and Greeks believed.But the Jews who refused to believe stirred up the other Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brothers. (niv)

While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, he was greatly distressed to see that the city was full of idols.So he reasoned in the synagogue with both Jews and God- fearing Greeks, as well as in the marketplace day by day with those who happened to be there. (niv)

When Paul and his companions had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a Jewish synagogue.As was his custom, Paul went into the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures,explaining and proving that the Messiah had to suffer and rise from the dead.“ This Jesus I am proclaiming to you is the Messiah,” he said.
