How can you say to your brother,‘ Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

How can you say to your friend,‘ Let me take the bit of sawdust out of your eye’? How can you say this while there is a piece of wood in your own eye? You pretender! First take the piece of wood out of your own eye. Then you will be able to see clearly to take the bit of sawdust out of your friend’s eye.

How can you say to your brother,‘ Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye.

How can you think of saying,‘ Friend, let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.

Or how can you say to your brother,‘ Brother, let me take out the splinter that is in your eye,’ when you yourself don’t see the beam of wood in your eye? Hypocrite! First take the beam of wood out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the splinter in your brother’s eye.

How can you say to your brother,‘ Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye.

In a lawsuit the first to speak seems right, until someone comes forward and cross- examines. (niv)

You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous and blameless we were among you who believed.For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children,encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory. “ Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. (niv)

The Lord answered him,“ You hypocrites! Doesn’t each of you on the Sabbath untie your ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water? (niv)

But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins. (niv)

Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work. (niv)

But to the wicked person, God says:“ What right have you to recite my laws or take my covenant on your lips?You hate my instruction and cast my words behind you.When you see a thief, you join with him; you throw in your lot with adulterers.You use your mouth for evil and harness your tongue to deceit.You sit and testify against your brother and slander your own mother’s son.When you did these things and I kept silent, you thought I was exactly like you. But I now arraign you and set my accusations before you. (niv)

You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. (niv)

The Lord called to him in a vision,“ Ananias!”“ Yes, Lord,” he answered.The Lord told him,“ Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying.In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight.”“ Lord,” Ananias answered,“ I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your holy people in Jerusalem.And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name.”But the Lord said to Ananias,“ Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel.I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.”Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said,“ Brother Saul, the Lord— Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here— has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized,and after taking some food, he regained his strength. Saul spent several days with the disciples in Damascus.At once he began to preach in the synagogues that Jesus is the Son of God. (niv)
