耶穌上了船，門徒跟着他。海裏忽然起了猛烈的風暴，以致船幾乎被波浪淹沒，耶穌卻睡着了。門徒去叫醒他，說：「主啊，救命啊，我們快沒命啦！」耶穌說：「你們這些小信的人哪，為甚麼膽怯呢？」於是他起來，斥責風和海，風和海就大大平靜了。眾人驚訝地說：「這是怎樣的一個人？連風和海都聽從他。」

那天晚上，耶穌對門徒說：「我們渡到對岸去吧。」門徒離開眾人，耶穌已在船上，他們就請他一同去；也有別的船和他同行。忽然狂風大作，波浪打入船內，以致船灌滿了水。耶穌在船尾上，枕着枕頭睡覺。門徒叫醒他，說：「老師！我們快沒命了，你不管嗎？」耶穌醒了，斥責那風，向海說：「住了吧！靜了吧！」風就止住，大大平靜了。耶穌對他們說：「為甚麼膽怯？你們還沒有信心嗎？」他們就非常懼怕，彼此說：「這到底是誰？連風和海都聽從他。」

這些事以後，耶穌渡過加利利海，就是提比哩亞海。

他就離開他們，又上船往海的對岸去了。

耶穌站在革尼撒勒湖邊，眾人擁擠他，要聽神的道。

耶穌隨即催門徒上船，先渡到對岸，到伯賽大去，等他叫眾人散去。

船行的時候，耶穌睡着了。湖上忽然起了狂風，船將灌滿了水，很危險。

耶穌見許多人圍着他，就吩咐渡到對岸去。
