他在各會堂裏教導人，眾人都稱讚他。耶穌來到拿撒勒，就是他長大的地方。在安息日，照他素常的規矩進了會堂，站起來要念聖經。有人把以賽亞先知的書交給他，他就打開，找到一處寫着：「主的靈在我身上，因為他用膏膏我，叫我傳福音給貧窮的人；差遣我宣告：被擄的得釋放，失明的得看見，受壓迫的得自由，宣告神悅納人的禧年。」於是他把書捲起來，交還給管理人，就坐下。會堂裏的人都定睛看他。耶穌對他們說：「你們聽見的這段經文，今天已經應驗了。」

過了不久，耶穌周遊各城各鄉傳道，宣講神國的福音。和他同去的有十二個使徒，

你們原知道，我們憑主耶穌傳給你們甚麼命令。

直到他藉着聖靈吩咐所揀選的使徒後，被接上升的日子為止。

弟兄們，我們奉主耶穌基督的名吩咐你們，凡有弟兄懶散，不遵守我們所傳授的教導，要遠離他。

凡我所吩咐你們的，都教導他們遵守。看哪，我天天與你們同在，直到世代的終結。」

耶穌講完了這些話，眾人對他的教導都感到驚奇，

要守這命令，毫不玷污，無可指責，直到我們的主耶穌基督顯現。
