迦百農乎、爾曾得升至天、又將推落暗府、蓋在爾中所施異能、若施於所多馬、則彼邑今日猶存、

加伯農乎、爾會得升至天、後必墮於地獄、蓋在爾中所施之異能、若施於所多瑪、則於今日尚存、

葛法農乎、爾欲蒙陟而登青雲乎？爾必被降而入冥獄也。蓋設令爾中所行神蹟、行於瑣同、則彼邑至今應猶依然無恙耳。

And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted to the heavens? No, you will go down to Hades. For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day.

And what about you, Capernaum? Will you be lifted to the heavens? No! You will go down to the place of the dead. Suppose the miracles done in you had been done in Sodom. It would still be here today.

And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? You will be brought down to Hades. For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

“ And you people of Capernaum, will you be honored in heaven? No, you will go down to the place of the dead. For if the miracles I did for you had been done in wicked Sodom, it would still be here today.

And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? No, you will go down to Hades. For if the miracles that were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until today.

And you, Capernaum, will not be exalted to heaven, will you? You will be brought down to Hades! For if the miracles that occurred in you had occurred in Sodom, it would have remained to this day.

And thou, Capernaum, shalt thou be exalted unto heaven? thou shalt go down unto Hades: for if the mighty works had been done in Sodom which were done in thee, it would have remained until this day.

後來，他離開拿撒勒，來到西布倫和拿弗他利境內，住在湖邊的迦百農。

你心裡曾說：『我要升到天上，我要高舉我的寶座在神的眾星之上，我要坐在北方極處的聚會山上，我要升到雲端之上，我要使自己與至高者相比。』然而你必被丟下陰間，下到陰坑的極處！

耶穌又來到加利利的迦拿，就是他把水變成酒的地方。有一個大臣，他的兒子在迦百農患了病。這個人聽說耶穌從猶太來到加利利，就到耶穌那裡去，請求他下去治癒他的兒子，因為他的兒子快要死了。耶穌對他說：「你們如果沒有看見神蹟和奇事，你們就絕不會信！」那大臣對耶穌說：「先生，求你在我的孩子還沒有死之前下來吧！」耶穌對他說：「你回去吧，你的兒子活了！」那人相信耶穌的話，就回去了。他正下去的時候，他的奴僕們迎著他來，告訴他孩子活了。他就問孩子好轉的時間，他們說：「昨天下午一點，燒就退了。」這位父親就知道，那正是耶穌說「你的兒子活了」的時間。於是他自己和全家人都信了。這是耶穌從猶太回到加利利以後所行的第二件神蹟。

那時，耶和華就使硫磺與火從天而降，從耶和華那裡降在所多瑪和格摩拉，使那些城和整個平原，連同各城所有的居民和地上生長的都遭覆滅。

那時所多瑪人在耶和華面前罪大惡極。

因為每一個自我高舉的都會被降卑；而自我降卑的都會被高舉。」

要知道：既然神沒有顧惜那些犯罪的天使，把他們扔進地獄，囚禁在幽暗的坑裡，拘留到審判的時候；既然神也沒有顧惜上古的世界，使洪水臨到那不敬神的世界，只保守了義的傳道者挪亞一家八口；既然神又定了所多瑪和格摩拉的罪，把這二城傾覆，燒成灰燼，做為以後不敬神之人的鑒戒；既然神拯救了那因惡人的好色行為而哀傷的義人羅得——因為這義人住在他們中間，看見又聽見他們的不法行為，他公義的心天天受到折磨——那麼，主就知道怎樣拯救敬神的人脫離試煉，卻把不義的人留在懲罰之下，直到審判的日子，

耶穌對他們說：「你們一定會用這句諺語對我說：『醫生啊，使你自己痊癒吧！』，『我們聽見在迦百農所發生的事，你在你的家鄉這裡也應該做！』」

我還告訴你：你是彼得，我要在這磐石上建立我的教會，陰間的門不能勝過它。

因為你不會把我的靈魂撇棄在陰間，也不會讓你的聖者經歷腐朽。

他們來到迦百農，那些收聖殿稅的人來到彼得那裡，說：「你們的老師不納聖殿稅嗎？」

耶穌進了迦百農，有個百夫長前來懇求他，

同樣，所多瑪、格摩拉及其周圍的城市，照著他們的樣子放縱行淫，隨從變態的肉慾，就遭受永火的刑罰，成為我們的鑒戒。

他們的屍體會被拋在大城的街道上。這大城按屬靈的意思叫做所多瑪，又叫做埃及，也就是他們的主被釘十字架的地方。

財主在陰間的痛苦中，舉目遠遠地望見亞伯拉罕，又望見拉撒路在他懷裡，
