And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? You will be brought down to Hades. For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

而你——迦百農啊，你將被高舉到天上嗎？不，你將下到陰間。因為在你中間行過的神蹟，如果行在所多瑪，它就會存留到今天。

迦百農歟、爾將升於天乎、必下陰府耳、蓋在爾中所行異能、若行於所多瑪、則今日猶存、

迦百農乎、爾曾得升至天、又將推落暗府、蓋在爾中所施異能、若施於所多馬、則彼邑今日猶存、

加伯農乎、爾會得升至天、後必墮於地獄、蓋在爾中所施之異能、若施於所多瑪、則於今日尚存、

葛法農乎、爾欲蒙陟而登青雲乎？爾必被降而入冥獄也。蓋設令爾中所行神蹟、行於瑣同、則彼邑至今應猶依然無恙耳。

And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted to the heavens? No, you will go down to Hades. For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day.

And what about you, Capernaum? Will you be lifted to the heavens? No! You will go down to the place of the dead. Suppose the miracles done in you had been done in Sodom. It would still be here today.

“ And you people of Capernaum, will you be honored in heaven? No, you will go down to the place of the dead. For if the miracles I did for you had been done in wicked Sodom, it would still be here today.

And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? No, you will go down to Hades. For if the miracles that were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until today.

And you, Capernaum, will not be exalted to heaven, will you? You will be brought down to Hades! For if the miracles that occurred in you had occurred in Sodom, it would have remained to this day.

And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades; for if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

And thou, Capernaum, shalt thou be exalted unto heaven? thou shalt go down unto Hades: for if the mighty works had been done in Sodom which were done in thee, it would have remained until this day.

And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? You will go down to Hades. For if the miracles that were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until today.

And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? No, you will be thrown down to Hades! For if the miracles done among you had been done in Sodom, it would have continued to this day.

You, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, you will go down to Hades. For if the mighty works had been done in Sodom which were done in you, it would have remained until today.

And leaving Nazareth he went and lived in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali,

You said in your heart,‘ I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far reaches of the north;I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’But you are brought down to Sheol, to the far reaches of the pit.

So he came again to Cana in Galilee, where he had made the water wine. And at Capernaum there was an official whose son was ill.When this man heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went to him and asked him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death.So Jesus said to him,“ Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe.”The official said to him,“ Sir, come down before my child dies.”Jesus said to him,“ Go; your son will live.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and went on his way.As he was going down, his servants met him and told him that his son was recovering.So he asked them the hour when he began to get better, and they said to him,“ Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.”The father knew that was the hour when Jesus had said to him,“ Your son will live.” And he himself believed, and all his household.This was now the second sign that Jesus did when he had come from Judea to Galilee.

Then the Lord rained on Sodom and Gomorrah sulfur and fire from the Lord out of heaven.And he overthrew those cities, and all the valley, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground.

Now the men of Sodom were wicked, great sinners against the Lord.

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment;if he did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven others, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly;if by turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes he condemned them to extinction, making them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly;and if he rescued righteous Lot, greatly distressed by the sensual conduct of the wicked( for as that righteous man lived among them day after day, he was tormenting his righteous soul over their lawless deeds that he saw and heard);then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment,

And he said to them,“ Doubtless you will quote to me this proverb,‘“ Physician, heal yourself.” What we have heard you did at Capernaum, do here in your hometown as well.’”

And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

For you will not abandon my soul to Hades, or let your Holy One see corruption.

Though you soar aloft like the eagle, though your nest is set among the stars, from there I will bring you down, declares the Lord.

How the Lord in his anger has set the daughter of Zion under a cloud! He has cast down from heaven to earth the splendor of Israel; he has not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.

When they came to Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma tax went up to Peter and said,“ Does your teacher not pay the tax?”

As I live, declares the Lord God, your sister Sodom and her daughters have not done as you and your daughters have done.Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy.They were haughty and did an abomination before me. So I removed them, when I saw it.

I made the nations quake at the sound of its fall, when I cast it down to Sheol with those who go down to the pit. And all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, were comforted in the world below.They also went down to Sheol with it, to those who are slain by the sword; yes, those who were its arm, who lived under its shadow among the nations.

When he had entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him, appealing to him,

just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.

and their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city that symbolically is called Sodom and Egypt, where their Lord was crucified.

“ Son of man, raise a lamentation over the king of Tyre, and say to him, Thus says the Lord God:“ You were the signet of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering, sardius, topaz, and diamond, beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, emerald, and carbuncle; and crafted in gold were your settings and your engravings. On the day that you were created they were prepared.You were an anointed guardian cherub. I placed you; you were on the holy mountain of God; in the midst of the stones of fire you walked.You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created, till unrighteousness was found in you.In the abundance of your trade you were filled with violence in your midst, and you sinned; so I cast you as a profane thing from the mountain of God, and I destroyed you, O guardian cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.Your heart was proud because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor. I cast you to the ground; I exposed you before kings, to feast their eyes on you.By the multitude of your iniquities, in the unrighteousness of your trade you profaned your sanctuaries; so I brought fire out from your midst; it consumed you, and I turned you to ashes on the earth in the sight of all who saw you.All who know you among the peoples are appalled at you; you have come to a dreadful end and shall be no more forever.”

and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side.
