耶穌又曰、父乎、天地主也、我讚爾、以此事、於智者達者則隱之、於赤子則顯之、

既而曰、父乎、天地主也、我讚爾、以此道、於智賢則隱之、於赤子則顯之、

當時耶穌曰、父歟、天地之主、我讚爾、因爾藏斯道於知者達者、而顯之於赤子、

爾時耶穌又言曰：『頌揚聖父、天地真主！蓋爾隱此道於智巧之人、而啟之於赤子；

At that time Jesus prayed this prayer:“ O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike.

And Jesus answered him,“ You are blessed, Simon son of Jonah, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but my Father in heaven!

and said to him,“ Do you hear what they are saying?” Jesus said to them,“ Yes. Have you never read,‘ Out of the mouths of children and nursing infants you have prepared praise for yourself’?”

From the mouths of children and nursing babies you have ordained praise on account of your adversaries, so that you might put an end to the vindictive enemy.

On that same occasion Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said,“ I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your gracious will.All things have been given to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son decides to reveal him.”Then Jesus turned to his disciples and said privately,“ Blessed are the eyes that see what you see!For I tell you that many prophets and kings longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”

The God who made the world and everything in it, who is Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by human hands,

as it is written,“ God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that would not see and ears that would not hear, to this very day.”And David says,“ Let their table become a snare and trap, a stumbling block and a retribution for them;let their eyes be darkened so that they may not see, and make their backs bend continually.”

But their minds were closed. For to this very day, the same veil remains when they hear the old covenant read. It has not been removed because only in Christ is it taken away.

So they took away the stone. Jesus looked upward and said,“ Father, I thank you that you have listened to me.

Jesus said,]“ For judgment I have come into this world, so that those who do not see may gain their sight, and the ones who see may become blind.”Some of the Pharisees who were with him heard this and asked him,“ We are not blind too, are we?”Jesus replied,“ If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin, but now because you claim that you can see, your guilt remains.”

When he was alone, those around him with the twelve asked him about the parables.He said to them,“ The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those outside, everything is in parables,so that although they look they may look but not see, and although they hear they may hear but not understand, so they may not repent and be forgiven.”

For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.For it is written,“ I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will thwart the cleverness of the intelligent.”Where is the wise man? Where is the expert in the Mosaic law? Where is the debater of this age? Has God not made the wisdom of the world foolish?For since in the wisdom of God the world by its wisdom did not know God, God was pleased to save those who believe by the foolishness of preaching.For Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks ask for wisdom,but we preach about a crucified Christ, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles.But to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.Think about the circumstances of your call, brothers and sisters. Not many were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were born to a privileged position.But God chose what the world thinks foolish to shame the wise, and God chose what the world thinks weak to shame the strong.God chose what is low and despised in the world, what is regarded as nothing, to set aside what is regarded as something,so that no one can boast in his presence.

Now we do speak wisdom among the mature, but not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are perishing.Instead we speak the wisdom of God, hidden in a mystery, that God determined before the ages for our glory.None of the rulers of this age understood it. If they had known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

O God of my fathers, I acknowledge and glorify you, for you have bestowed wisdom and power on me. Now you have enabled me to understand what I requested from you. For you have enabled me to understand the king’s dilemma.”

so that the word of Isaiah the prophet would be fulfilled. He said,“ Lord, who has believed our message, and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”For this reason they could not believe, because again Isaiah said,“ He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, so that they would not see with their eyes and understand with their heart, and turn to me, and I would heal them.”

At that time the deaf will be able to hear words read from a scroll, and the eyes of the blind will be able to see through deep darkness.The downtrodden will again rejoice in the LORD; the poor among humankind will take delight in the Holy One of Israel.

He replied,“ You have been given the opportunity to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but they have not.For whoever has will be given more, and will have an abundance. But whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.For this reason I speak to them in parables: Although they see they do not see, and although they hear they do not hear nor do they understand.And concerning them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled that says:‘ You will listen carefully yet will never understand, you will look closely yet will never comprehend.For the heart of this people has become dull; they are hard of hearing, and they have shut their eyes, so that they would not see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’“ But your eyes are blessed because they see, and your ears because they hear.

“ Before I formed you in your mother’s womb I chose you. Before you were born I set you apart. I appointed you to be a prophet to the nations.”I answered,“ Oh, Lord GOD, I really do not know how to speak well enough for that, for I am too young.”The LORD said to me,“ Do not say,‘ I am too young.’ But go to whomever I send you and say whatever I tell you.Do not be afraid of those to whom I send you, for I will be with you to protect you,” says the LORD.

and said,“ I tell you the truth, unless you turn around and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven!Whoever then humbles himself like this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

“ Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me. Yet not my will but yours be done.”[

This is what the LORD says:“ The heavens are my throne and the earth is my footstool. Where then is the house you will build for me? Where is the place where I will rest?

For the LORD has poured out on you a strong urge to sleep deeply. He has shut your eyes( the prophets), and covered your heads( the seers).To you this entire prophetic revelation is like words in a sealed scroll. When they hand it to one who can read and say,“ Read this,” he responds,“ I can’t, because it is sealed.”Or when they hand the scroll to one who can’t read and say,“ Read this,” he says,“ I can’t read.”The sovereign master says,“ These people say they are loyal to me; they say wonderful things about me, but they are not really loyal to me. Their worship consists of nothing but man- made ritual.Therefore I will again do an amazing thing for these people– an absolutely extraordinary deed. Wise men will have nothing to say, the sages will have no explanations.”

But when Jesus saw this, he was indignant and said to them,“ Let the little children come to me and do not try to stop them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.I tell you the truth, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.”After he took the children in his arms, he placed his hands on them and blessed them.

The heavens– indeed the highest heavens– belong to the LORD your God, as does the earth and everything in it.However, only to your ancestors did he show his loving favor, and he chose you, their descendants, from all peoples– as is apparent today.

The LORD called to Samuel, and he replied,“ Here I am!”Then he ran to Eli and said,“ Here I am, for you called me.” But Eli said,“ I didn’t call you. Go back and lie down.” So he went back and lay down.The LORD again called,“ Samuel!” So Samuel got up and went to Eli and said,“ Here I am, for you called me.” But Eli said,“ I didn’t call you, my son. Go back and lie down.”Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD; the word of the LORD had not yet been revealed to him.Then the LORD called Samuel a third time. So he got up and went to Eli and said,“ Here I am, for you called me!” Eli then realized that it was the LORD who was calling the boy.So Eli said to Samuel,“ Go back and lie down. When he calls you, say,“ Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.” So Samuel went back and lay down in his place.Then the LORD came and stood nearby, calling as he had previously done,“ Samuel! Samuel!” Samuel replied,“ Speak, for your servant is listening!”The LORD said to Samuel,“ Look! I am about to do something in Israel; when anyone hears about it, both of his ears will tingle.On that day I will carry out against Eli everything that I spoke about his house– from start to finish!You should tell him that I am about to judge his house forever because of the sin that he knew about. For his sons were cursing God, and he did not rebuke them.Therefore I swore an oath to the house of Eli,‘ The sin of the house of Eli can never be forgiven by sacrifice or by grain offering.’”So Samuel lay down until morning. Then he opened the doors of the LORD’s house. But Samuel was afraid to tell Eli about the vision.However, Eli called Samuel and said,“ Samuel, my son!” He replied,“ Here I am.”Eli said,“ What message did he speak to you? Don’t conceal it from me. God will judge you severely if you conceal from me anything that he said to you!”So Samuel told him everything. He did not hold back anything from him. Eli said,“ The LORD will do what he pleases.”Samuel continued to grow, and the LORD was with him. None of his prophecies fell to the ground unfulfilled.All Israel from Dan to Beer Sheba realized that Samuel was confirmed as a prophet of the LORD.Then the LORD again appeared in Shiloh, for it was in Shiloh that the LORD had revealed himself to Samuel through the word of the LORD.

But we ought to thank God always for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.He called you to this salvation through our gospel, so that you may possess the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Those who think they are wise are as good as dead, those who think they possess understanding.

But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing,among whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of those who do not believe so they would not see the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God.For we do not proclaim ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your slaves for Jesus’ sake.For God, who said“ Let light shine out of darkness,” is the one who shined in our hearts to give us the light of the glorious knowledge of God in the face of Christ.

All the inhabitants of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as he wishes with the army of heaven and with those who inhabit the earth. No one slaps his hand and says to him,‘ What have you done?’

Hezekiah prayed before the LORD:“ LORD God of Israel, who is enthroned on the cherubs! You alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the sky and the earth.

But Abram replied to the king of Sodom,“ I raise my hand to the LORD, the Most High God, Creator of heaven and earth, and vow

He blessed Abram, saying,“ Blessed be Abram by the Most High God, Creator of heaven and earth.

Now, our God, we give thanks to you and praise your majestic name!

None of the rulers or the Pharisees have believed in him, have they?But this rabble who do not know the law are accursed!”

Now Samuel was ministering before the LORD. The boy was dressed in a linen ephod.

Guard against self- deception, each of you. If someone among you thinks he is wise in this age, let him become foolish so that he can become wise.For the wisdom of this age is foolishness with God. As it is written,“ He catches the wise in their craftiness.”And again,“ The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.”
