“ When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it.

“ What happens when an evil spirit comes out of a person? It goes through dry areas looking for a place to rest. But it doesn’t find it.

“ When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, but finds none.

And He gave them permission.

“ Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord God,“ When I will send a famine on the land, Not a famine of bread or a thirst for water, But rather for hearing the words of the Lord.People will stagger from sea to sea And from the north even to the east; They will roam about to seek the word of the Lord, But they will not find it.On that day the beautiful virgins And the young men will faint from thirst.

I will open rivers on the bare heights, And springs in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, And the dry land fountains of water.

And they cried out, saying,“ What business do You have with us, Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?”

and shouting with a loud voice, he* said,“ What business do You have with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God, do not torment me!”For He had already been saying to him,“ Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!”And He was asking him,“ What is your name?” And he* said to Him,“ My name is Legion, for we are many.”And he begged Him earnestly not to send them out of the region.Now there was a large herd of pigs feeding nearby on the mountain.And the demons begged Him, saying,“ Send us into the pigs so that we may enter them.”Jesus gave them permission. And coming out, the unclean spirits entered the pigs; and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea, about two thousand of them; and they were drowned in the sea.

The Lord said to Satan,“ From where do you come?” Satan answered the Lord and said,“ From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.”

The Lord said to Satan,“ Where have you come from?” Then Satan answered the Lord and said,“ From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.”

Then those who limp will leap like a deer, And the tongue of those who cannot speak will shout for joy. For waters will burst forth in the wilderness, And streams in the desert.The scorched land will become a pool And the thirsty ground springs of water; In the haunt of jackals, its resting place, Grass becomes reeds and rushes.

Then he said to me,“ These waters go out toward the eastern region and go down into the Arabah; then they go toward the sea, being made to flow into the sea, and the waters of the sea become fresh.And it will come about that every living creature which swarms in every place where the river goes, will live. And there will be very many fish, for these waters go there and the others become fresh; so everything will live where the river goes.And it will come about that fishermen will stand beside it; from Engedi to Eneglaim there will be a place for the spreading of nets. Their fish will be according to their kinds, like the fish of the Great Sea, very many.But its swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they will be left for salt.And by the river on its bank, on one side and on the other, will grow all kinds of trees for food. Their leaves will not wither and their fruit will not fail. They will bear fruit every month because their water flows from the sanctuary, and their fruit will be for food and their leaves for healing.”

God, You are my God; I shall be watching for You; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and exhausted land where there is no water.

Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

Now even Simon himself believed; and after being baptized, he continued on with Philip, and as he observed signs and great miracles taking place, he was repeatedly amazed.
