So Jesus’ brothers advised him,“ Leave here and go to Judea so your disciples may see your miracles that you are performing.

Isn’t this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And aren’t his sisters here with us?” And so they took offense at him.

Now Jesus’ mother and his brothers came to him, but they could not get near him because of the crowd.So he was told,“ Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.”But he replied to them,“ My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.”

But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then Jesus himself also went up, not openly but in secret.

Then Jesus’ mother and his brothers came. Standing outside, they sent word to him, to summon him.A crowd was sitting around him and they said to him,“ Look, your mother and your brothers are outside looking for you.”He answered them and said,“ Who are my mother and my brothers?”And looking at those who were sitting around him in a circle, he said,“ Here are my mother and my brothers!For whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.”

Now standing beside Jesus’ cross were his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

He said,“ You have been given the opportunity to know the secrets of the kingdom of God, but for others they are in parables, so that although they see they may not see, and although they hear they may not understand.

Now the birth of Jesus Christ happened this way. While his mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.

And who am I that the mother of my Lord should come and visit me?

So the child’s father and mother were amazed at what was said about him.

His mother told the servants,“ Whatever he tells you, do it.”

No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; otherwise, the patch pulls away from it, the new from the old, and the tear becomes worse.

Now on the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there,

After they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said,“ Get up, take the child and his mother and flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to look for the child to kill him.”Then he got up, took the child and his mother during the night, and went to Egypt.

Then he went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them. But his mother kept all these things in her heart.

As they came into the house and saw the child with Mary his mother, they bowed down and worshiped him. They opened their treasure boxes and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

When his parents saw him, they were overwhelmed. His mother said to him,“ Child, why have you treated us like this? Look, your father and I have been looking for you anxiously.”

saying,“ Get up, take the child and his mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who were seeking the child’s life are dead.”
