人數約有四千。耶穌打發他們走了，

就在那天，耶穌從房子裏出來，坐在海邊。

耶穌隨即催門徒上船，先渡到對岸，到伯賽大去，等他叫眾人散去。

彼得回應他說：「請將這比喻講解給我們聽。」耶穌說：「連你們也還不明白嗎？

有幾個門徒彼此說：「他對我們說『不久，你們將不再見到我；再過不久，你們還要見到我』；又說『因我到父那裏去』。這是甚麼意思呢？」於是門徒說：「他說『不久』到底是甚麼意思呢？我們不明白他說甚麼。」耶穌看出他們要問他，就對他們說：「我說『不久，你們將不再見到我；再過不久，你們還要見到我』，你們為這話彼此詢問嗎？我實實在在地告訴你們，你們將要痛哭，哀號，世人反要歡喜。你們將要憂愁，然而你們的憂愁要變成喜樂。

耶穌回答他們說：「因為天國的奧祕只讓你們知道，不讓他們知道。

耶穌進了屋子，盲人就來到他跟前。耶穌說：「你們信我能做這事嗎？」他們說：「主啊，我們信。」

耶穌離開眾人，進了屋子，門徒就問他這比喻的意思。

耶穌隨即催門徒上船，先渡到對岸，等他叫眾人散去。

耶穌叫眾人散去，就上船，來到馬加丹境內。

若不用比喻，他就不對他們講，但私下沒有人的時候，就把一切的道講給門徒聽。
