耶稣从那里起身，来到犹太的境内，约旦河的东边。众人又聚集到他那里，他又照常教导他们。有法利赛人来问他说：“男人休妻合不合法？”意思是要试探他。耶稣回答他们说：“摩西吩咐你们的是什么？”他们说：“摩西准许写了休书就可以休妻。”耶稣对他们说：“摩西因为你们的心硬，所以写这诫命给你们。但从起初创造的时候，神造人是造男造女。因此，人要离开他的父母，与妻子结合，二人成为一体。既然如此，夫妻不再是两个人，而是一体的了。所以，神配合的，人不可分开。”他们到了屋里，门徒又问他这事。耶稣对他们说：“凡休妻另娶的，就是犯奸淫，辜负他的妻子；妻子若离弃丈夫另嫁，也是犯奸淫了。”

耶稣说完了这些话，就离开加利利，来到犹太的境内、约旦河的东边。有一大群人跟着他，他就在那里治好了他们。有些法利赛人来试探耶稣说：“无论什么缘故，人休妻都合法吗？”耶稣回答：“那起初造人的，是造男造女，并且说：‘因此，人要离开父母，与妻子结合，二人成为一体。’这经文你们没有念过吗？
