Then Jesus said to his disciples,“ Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven.

Then Jesus said to His disciples,“ I assure you: It will be hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven!

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Then Jesus said to his disciples,“ I tell you the truth, it will be hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven!

Jesus said to his disciples,“ Most certainly I say to you, a rich man will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven with difficulty.

As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.

But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

And Jesus looked around and said to his disciples,“ How difficult it will be for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!”

Jesus, seeing that he had become sad, said,“ How difficult it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!

Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you.Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth-eaten.Your gold and silver have corroded, and their corrosion will be evidence against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up treasure in the last days.Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, are crying out against you, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.

For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth.

And you shall eat and be full, and you shall bless the Lord your God for the good land he has given you.“ Take care lest you forget the Lord your God by not keeping his commandments and his rules and his statutes, which I command you today,lest, when you have eaten and are full and have built good houses and live in them,and when your herds and flocks multiply and your silver and gold is multiplied and all that you have is multiplied,then your heart be lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery,who led you through the great and terrifying wilderness, with its fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty ground where there was no water, who brought you water out of the flinty rock,who fed you in the wilderness with manna that your fathers did not know, that he might humble you and test you, to do you good in the end.Beware lest you say in your heart,‘ My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth.’You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

“ There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day.And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores,who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores.The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried,and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side.And he called out,‘ Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’But Abraham said,‘ Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish.And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.’And he said,‘ Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father’s house—for I have five brothers— so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.’

Jesus answered him,“ Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like a green leaf.

But you have dishonored the poor man. Are not the rich the ones who oppress you, and the ones who drag you into court?

Be not afraid when a man becomes rich, when the glory of his house increases.For when he dies he will carry nothing away; his glory will not go down after him.For though, while he lives, he counts himself blessed— and though you get praise when you do well for yourself—his soul will go to the generation of his fathers, who will never again see light.

“ And when the Lord your God brings you into the land that he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you— with great and good cities that you did not build,and houses full of all good things that you did not fill, and cisterns that you did not dig, and vineyards and olive trees that you did not plant— and when you eat and are full,then take care lest you forget the Lord, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me,lest I be full and deny you and say,“ Who is the Lord?” or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God.

Let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation,and the rich in his humiliation, because like a flower of the grass he will pass away.For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beauty perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits.

and said,“ Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus answered,“ Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.

And he said to them,“ Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”And he told them a parable, saying,“ The land of a rich man produced plentifully,and he thought to himself,‘ What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’And he said,‘ I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.And I will say to my soul,“ Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”’But God said to him,‘ Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”

“ If I have made gold my trust or called fine gold my confidence,if I have rejoiced because my wealth was abundant or because my hand had found much,

those who trust in their wealth and boast of the abundance of their riches?Truly no man can ransom another, or give to God the price of his life,

No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things, and they ridiculed him.

Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said,“ The first.” Jesus said to them,“ Truly, I say to you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes go into the kingdom of God before you.
