于是用比喻说：“一个人有一棵无花果树栽在葡萄园里。他来到树前找果子，却找不着。就对管园的说：‘看哪，我这三年来到这无花果树前找果子，竟找不着。把它砍了吧，何必白占地土呢！’管园的说：‘主啊，今年且留着，等我周围掘开土，加上粪；以后若结果子便罢，不然再把它砍了。’”

现在斧子已经放在树根上，凡不结好果子的树就砍下来，丢在火里。”

我为我葡萄园所做之外，还有什么可做的呢？我指望结好葡萄，怎么倒结了野葡萄呢？现在我告诉你们，我要向我葡萄园怎样行：我必撤去篱笆，使它被吞灭，拆毁墙垣，使它被践踏。

这样的人在你们的爱席上与你们同吃的时候，正是礁石。他们作牧人，只知喂养自己，无所惧怕；是没有雨的云彩，被风飘荡；是秋天没有果子的树，死而又死，连根被拔出来；

就如一块田地，吃过屡次下的雨水，生长菜蔬，合乎耕种的人用，就从神得福；若长荆棘和蒺藜，必被废弃，近于咒诅，结局就是焚烧。

凡属我不结果子的枝子，他就剪去；凡结果子的，他就修理干净，使枝子结果子更多。

倘若他们因认识主救主耶稣基督，得以脱离世上的污秽，后来又在其中被缠住、制伏，他们末后的景况就比先前更不好了。他们晓得义路，竟背弃了传给他们的圣命，倒不如不晓得为妙。俗语说得真不错：狗所吐的，它转过来又吃；猪洗净了又回到泥里去滚；这话在他们身上正合适。

有敬虔的外貌，却背了敬虔的实意；这等人你要躲开。

说：“巴不得你在这日子知道关系你平安的事；无奈这事现在是隐藏的，叫你的眼看不出来。因为日子将到，你的仇敌必筑起土垒，周围环绕你，四面困住你，并要扫灭你和你里头的儿女，连一块石头也不留在石头上，因你不知道眷顾你的时候。”
