命其次子亦如之、對曰、主、諾、既而不果往、

又就次子、亦如此言、對曰、主、我往、而終不往、

諭次子亦往、次子曰：「大人、我往。」然竟未往也。

他們宣稱認識神，卻在行為上否認他；他們是可憎惡的，是悖逆的，不配做任何好事。

他們如同百姓前來，來到你這裏，坐在你面前彷彿是我的子民。他們聽了你的話，卻不實行；因為他們口裏說愛，心卻追隨財利。

所以凡他們所吩咐你們的，你們都要謹守遵行。但不要效法他們的行為，因為他們能說不能行。

但是你，你既自稱為猶太人，倚靠律法，以神誇口，知道神的旨意，從律法受了教導而能分辨是非；你既深信自己是給盲人領路的，是在黑暗中人的光，是無知的人的師傅，是小孩子的老師，體現了律法中的知識和真理；那麼，你這教導別人的，還不教導自己嗎？你這宣講不可偷竊的，自己還偷竊嗎？你這說不可姦淫的，自己還姦淫嗎？你這厭惡偶像的，自己還搶劫廟中之物嗎？你這以律法誇口的，自己倒違犯律法，羞辱神！神的名在外邦人中因你們受了褻瀆，正如經上所記的。你若遵行律法，割禮固然於你有益；若違犯律法，你的割禮就算不得割禮。
