You take out what you did not put in and reap what you did not sow.’“ His master replied,‘ I will judge you by your own words, you wicked servant! You knew, did you, that I am a hard man, taking out what I did not put in, and reaping what I did not sow? (niv)

“ You of this generation, consider the word of the Lord:“ Have I been a desert to Israel or a land of great darkness? Why do my people say,‘ We are free to roam; we will come to you no more’? (niv)

But he answered his father,‘ Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. (niv)

“ Not everyone who says to me,‘ Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. (niv)

But who are you, a human being, to talk back to God?“ Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it,‘ Why did you make me like this?’” (niv)

“ We will not listen to the message you have spoken to us in the name of the Lord!We will certainly do everything we said we would: We will burn incense to the Queen of Heaven and will pour out drink offerings to her just as we and our ancestors, our kings and our officials did in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. At that time we had plenty of food and were well off and suffered no harm.But ever since we stopped burning incense to the Queen of Heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have had nothing and have been perishing by sword and famine.” (niv)

The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. (niv)

“ But you profane it by saying,‘ The Lord’s table is defiled,’ and,‘ Its food is contemptible.’And you say,‘ What a burden!’ and you sniff at it contemptuously,” says the Lord Almighty.“ When you bring injured, lame or diseased animals and offer them as sacrifices, should I accept them from your hands?” says the Lord. (niv)

‘ Why have we fasted,’ they say,‘ and you have not seen it? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you have not noticed?’“ Yet on the day of your fasting, you do as you please and exploit all your workers. (niv)

‘ These who were hired last worked only one hour,’ they said,‘ and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day.’ (niv)

“ Yet you say,‘ The way of the Lord is not just.’ Hear, you Israelites: Is my way unjust? Is it not your ways that are unjust?If a righteous person turns from their righteousness and commits sin, they will die for it; because of the sin they have committed they will die.But if a wicked person turns away from the wickedness they have committed and does what is just and right, they will save their life.Because they consider all the offenses they have committed and turn away from them, that person will surely live; they will not die.Yet the Israelites say,‘ The way of the Lord is not just.’ Are my ways unjust, people of Israel? Is it not your ways that are unjust? (niv)

Yet they say to God,‘ Leave us alone! We have no desire to know your ways.Who is the Almighty, that we should serve him? What would we gain by praying to him?’ (niv)

“ Why do you call me,‘ Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? (niv)

“ You have said,‘ It is futile to serve God. What do we gain by carrying out his requirements and going about like mourners before the Lord Almighty?But now we call the arrogant blessed. Certainly evildoers prosper, and even when they put God to the test, they get away with it.’” (niv)
