逾越節以前，耶穌知道自己離開這世界回到父那裡去的時候到了。他既然愛世上屬於自己的人，就愛他們到底。吃晚飯的時候（魔鬼已經把出賣耶穌的意念放在西門的兒子加略人猶大的心裡），

他們聚集在加利利的時候，耶穌對門徒說：“人子將要被交在人的手裡，

正如經上指著人子所說的，他固然要離世，但出賣人子的那人有禍了！他沒有生下來倒好。”那出賣耶穌的猶大說：“拉比，是我嗎？”他說：“這是你說的。”

猶太人的逾越節快到了，有許多人在過節前從各鄉上耶路撒冷去，要在那裡潔淨自己。

他不在這裡，已經復活了。你們應當記得他還在加利利的時候，怎樣告訴你們，說：‘人子必須被交在罪人手裡，釘在十字架上，第三日復活。’”

“你不可把我祭物的血和有酵的餅一同獻上，逾越節的祭物也不可留到早晨。

猶太人的逾越節近了，耶穌就上耶路撒冷去。

你們要這樣吃羊羔：腰間束上帶，腳上穿著鞋，手中拿著杖，快速地吃；這是耶和華的逾越節。因為在那一夜我要走遍埃及地，把埃及地所有頭生的，無論是人或是牲畜，都要殺掉；我也要審判埃及的一切神祇，我是耶和華。這血要在你們居住的房屋上作你們的記號；我擊打埃及地的時候，一看見這血，就越過你們去，災禍必不臨到你們身上毀滅你們。這一日必作你們的記念日；你們要守這日為耶和華的節；你們要世世代代守這節日作永遠的定例。

他說：“我十分願意在受難以前，跟你們吃這逾越節的晚餐。

“我有罪了！我出賣了無辜的人﹙“人”原文作“血”。﹚！”他們說：“這是你的事，跟我們有甚麼關係？”

逾越節前六天，耶穌到了伯大尼，就是拉撒路所住的地方；耶穌曾經使這拉撒路從死人中復活。
