If any of them go outside your house into the street, their blood will be on their own heads; we will not be responsible. As for those who are in the house with you, their blood will be on our head if a hand is laid on them. (niv)

who killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets and also drove us out. They displease God and are hostile to everyonein their effort to keep us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved. In this way they always heap up their sins to the limit. The wrath of God has come upon them at last. (niv)

Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?For we know him who said,“ It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again,“ The Lord will judge his people.” (niv)

Was there ever a prophet your ancestors did not persecute? They even killed those who predicted the coming of the Righteous One. And now you have betrayed and murdered him— (niv)

And you say,‘ If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets.Go ahead, then, and complete what your ancestors started!“ You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?Therefore I am sending you prophets and sages and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town.And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.Truly I tell you, all this will come on this generation.“ Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing. The Lord will repay him for the blood he shed, because without my father David knowing it he attacked two men and killed them with the sword. Both of them— Abner son of Ner, commander of Israel’s army, and Amasa son of Jether, commander of Judah’s army— were better men and more upright than he. (niv)

Do this so that innocent blood will not be shed in your land, which the Lord your God is giving you as your inheritance, and so that you will not be guilty of bloodshed. (niv)

Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?“ But if a righteous person turns from their righteousness and commits sin and does the same detestable things the wicked person does, will they live? None of the righteous things that person has done will be remembered. Because of the unfaithfulness they are guilty of and because of the sins they have committed, they will die.“ Yet you say,‘ The way of the Lord is not just.’ Hear, you Israelites: Is my way unjust? Is it not your ways that are unjust?If a righteous person turns from their righteousness and commits sin, they will die for it; because of the sin they have committed they will die.But if a wicked person turns away from the wickedness they have committed and does what is just and right, they will save their life.Because they consider all the offenses they have committed and turn away from them, that person will surely live; they will not die.Yet the Israelites say,‘ The way of the Lord is not just.’ Are my ways unjust, people of Israel? Is it not your ways that are unjust?“ Therefore, you Israelites, I will judge each of you according to your own ways, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall.Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed, and get a new heart and a new spirit. Why will you die, people of Israel?For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent and live! (niv)

“ Son of man, will you judge her? Will you judge this city of bloodshed? Then confront her with all her detestable practicesand say:‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: You city that brings on herself doom by shedding blood in her midst and defiles herself by making idols,you have become guilty because of the blood you have shed and have become defiled by the idols you have made. You have brought your days to a close, and the end of your years has come. Therefore I will make you an object of scorn to the nations and a laughingstock to all the countries. (niv)

You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, (niv)

Later, when David heard about this, he said,“ I and my kingdom are forever innocent before the Lord concerning the blood of Abner son of Ner.May his blood fall on the head of Joab and on his whole family! May Joab’s family never be without someone who has a running sore or leprosy or who leans on a crutch or who falls by the sword or who lacks food.” (niv)

Surely these things happened to Judah according to the Lord’s command, in order to remove them from his presence because of the sins of Manasseh and all he had done,including the shedding of innocent blood. For he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and the Lord was not willing to forgive. (niv)

For David had said to him,“ Your blood be on your own head. Your own mouth testified against you when you said,‘ I killed the Lord’s anointed.’” (niv)

Show no pity. You must purge from Israel the guilt of shedding innocent blood, so that it may go well with you. (niv)

May no one extend kindness to him or take pity on his fatherless children.May his descendants be cut off, their names blotted out from the next generation.May the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the Lord; may the sin of his mother never be blotted out.May their sins always remain before the Lord, that he may blot out their name from the earth.For he never thought of doing a kindness, but hounded to death the poor and the needy and the brokenhearted.He loved to pronounce a curse— may it come back on him. He found no pleasure in blessing— may it be far from him.He wore cursing as his garment; it entered into his body like water, into his bones like oil.May it be like a cloak wrapped about him, like a belt tied forever around him. Anyone who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; anyone on whom it falls will be crushed.” (niv)

“‘ For the blood she shed is in her midst: She poured it on the bare rock; she did not pour it on the ground, where the dust would cover it.To stir up wrath and take revenge I put her blood on the bare rock, so that it would not be covered.“‘ Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says:“‘ Woe to the city of bloodshed!
