那天是逾越节的预备日，约在正午的时候。彼拉多对犹太人说：“看，你们的王！”

到了晚上，因为是预备日，就是安息日的前一日，

那天是预备日，安息日就要开始，那些从加利利和耶稣一起来的妇女，跟着来了。她们看见了坟墓，和他的身体怎样安葬，就回去预备香料和香膏。安息日，她们遵着诫命安息。

除酵节的第一天，门徒前来问耶稣：“你要我们在哪里为你预备逾越节的晚餐呢？”

希律和本丢．彼拉多，外族人和以色列民，真的在这城里聚集，反对你所膏立的圣仆耶稣，行了你手和你旨意所预定要成就的一切。

因为那天是预备日，为了要避免尸体在安息日留在十字架上（因为那安息日是个重要的日子），犹太人就请求彼拉多打断那些被钉十字架的人的腿，把他们拿下来。

到了早上，所有的祭司长和民间的长老商议怎样对付耶稣，好杀掉他。他们把他绑起来，押去交给总督彼拉多。
