那天是逾越節的預備日，約在正午的時候。彼拉多對猶太人說：“看，你們的王！”

到了晚上，因為是預備日，就是安息日的前一日，

因為那天是猶太人的預備日，又因為那墓穴就在附近，他們就把耶穌葬在那裡。

列國為甚麼騷動？萬民為甚麼空謀妄想？世上的君王起來，首領聚在一起，敵對耶和華和他所膏立的，說：“我們來掙斷他們給我們的束縛，擺脫他們的繩索！”那坐在天上的必發笑，主必譏笑他們。那時，他必在烈怒中對他們講話，在震怒中使他們驚慌，說：“我已經在錫安我的聖山上，立了我的君王。”

那天是預備日，安息日就要開始，那些從加利利和耶穌一起來的婦女，跟著來了。她們看見了墳墓，和他的身體怎樣安葬，就回去預備香料和香膏。安息日，她們遵著誡命安息。

除酵節的第一天，門徒前來問耶穌：“你要我們在哪裡為你預備逾越節的晚餐呢？”

希律和本丟．彼拉多，外族人和以色列民，真的在這城裡聚集，反對你所膏立的聖僕耶穌，行了你手和你旨意所預定要成就的一切。

因為那天是預備日，為了要避免屍體在安息日留在十字架上（因為那安息日是個重要的日子），猶太人就請求彼拉多打斷那些被釘十字架的人的腿，把他們拿下來。

到了早上，所有的祭司長和民間的長老商議怎樣對付耶穌，好殺掉他。他們把他綁起來，押去交給總督彼拉多。
