那天是逾越节的预备日，大约在中午十二点，彼拉多对犹太人说：“看，你们的王！”

因为那天是预备日，也就是安息日的前一天，所以到了傍晚，

为什么万国悖逆，万民图谋虚妄的事呢？地上的君王们站出来，首领们一同商定，敌对耶和华和他的受膏者，说：“让我们挣断他们的捆绑，把他们的绳索从我们身上甩掉！”坐在天上的那一位会讥笑，主会嘲笑他们。那时他在怒气中向他们说话，在烈怒中使他们惶恐，说：“我在锡安我的圣山上，膏立了我的王。”

那天是预备日，安息日快要到了。那些从加利利陪耶稣一起来的妇女跟在后面。她们看到了那墓穴，也看到了耶稣的遗体怎样被安放，就回去预备香料和香液。不过在安息日，她们还是按照诫命休息了。

除酵节的第一日，门徒们前来问耶稣：“你要我们到哪里去预备，好让你吃逾越节的晚餐呢？”

“事实上，希律和本丢彼拉多，与外邦人和以色列子民果然在这城里一同聚集，对付你所膏立的圣仆耶稣，做成了你手和你计划所预定要成就的一切事。

因为那天是预备日，又因为那个安息日是个大节日，那些犹太人为了不让尸体在安息日留在十字架上，就向彼拉多请求，好把他们的腿打断，把尸体拿走。

到了清晨，所有的祭司长和民间的长老商议对付耶稣，为要处死他。他们把耶稣捆起来带走，交给总督彼拉多。
