那日是預備逾越節的日子，約有午正。彼拉多對猶太人說：「看哪，這是你們的王！」

到了晚上，因為這是預備日，就是安息日的前一日，

只因是猶太人的預備日，又因那墳墓近，他們就把耶穌安放在那裏。

外邦為甚麼爭鬧？萬民為甚麼謀算虛妄的事？世上的君王一齊起來，臣宰一同商議，要敵擋耶和華並他的受膏者，說：我們要掙開他們的捆綁，脫去他們的繩索。那坐在天上的必發笑；主必嗤笑他們。那時，他要在怒中責備他們，在烈怒中驚嚇他們，說：我已經立我的君在錫安－我的聖山上了。

那日是預備日，安息日也快到了。那些從加利利和耶穌同來的婦女跟在後面，看見了墳墓和他的身體怎樣安放。她們就回去，預備了香料香膏。她們在安息日，便遵着誡命安息了。

除酵節的第一天，門徒來問耶穌說：「你吃逾越節的筵席，要我們在哪裏給你預備？」

希律和本丟‧彼拉多，外邦人和以色列民，果然在這城裏聚集，要攻打你所膏的聖僕耶穌，成就你手和你意旨所預定必有的事。

猶太人因這日是預備日，又因那安息日是個大日，就求彼拉多叫人打斷他們的腿，把他們拿去，免得屍首當安息日留在十字架上。

到了早晨，眾祭司長和民間的長老大家商議要治死耶穌，就把他捆綁，解去，交給巡撫彼拉多。
