那一天是逾越節的豫備日，大約在中午十二點。彼拉多對猶太人說；『看哪，你們的王！』

已到傍晚，因為是豫備日，就是安息日的前夕，

就在那裏，為了猶太人之豫備日的緣故，因那墳墓相近，他們就把耶穌安放了。

列國為甚麼彼此串通？萬族之民為甚麼謀算不能成功的事呢？地上君王列陣站着，眾人君一同陰謀，要敵擋永恆主，敵擋他所膏立的，說：『我們來掙開他們的捆綁，來脫掉他們的繩索吧。』那坐在天上的必冷笑；永恆主必嗤笑他們。那時他必氣忿忿責備他們，必發烈怒使他們驚惶；傳諭旨說：『我，我已立我的君王於錫安、我的聖山上。』

那一天是豫備日傍晚，安息日快到了。那些從加利利和耶穌一同來的婦女們跟隨着、看那墳墓，並看耶穌的身體怎樣地安放，然後回去，豫備香料香膏。安息日便遵照誡命靜歇着。

除酵節的頭一天，門徒上耶穌跟前來說：『你願意我們在哪裏給你豫備喫逾越節的筵席呢？』

希律和本丟彼拉多、同外國人和以色列眾族之民、真地在這城裏聚集，攻打你所膏立的聖僕耶穌，要作你手和你計畫所豫定必成的一切事。

因這一天是豫備日，為避免身體當安息日留在十字架上（因為那安息日是個大日），猶太人便求彼拉多叫人打斷他們的腿，給取去。

到了早晨，眾祭司長和民間的長老商議怎樣陷害耶穌、來治死他；就把他捆住，帶走，送交給總督彼拉多。
