But John tried to deter him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”

But John tried to stop him. So he told Jesus,“ I need to be baptized by you. So why do you come to me?”

John would have prevented him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”

But John tried to talk him out of it.“ I am the one who needs to be baptized by you,” he said,“ so why are you coming to me?”

But John tried to prevent Him, saying,“ I have the need to be baptized by You, and yet You are coming to me?”

But John would have hindered him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

But John tried to stop Him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by You, and yet You come to me?”

But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

But John tried to prevent him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by you, and yet you come to me?”

But John would have hindered him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by you, and you come to me?”

Jesus replied,“ Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”“ How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked.“ Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”Jesus answered,“ Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.You should not be surprised at my saying,‘ You must be born again.’ (niv)

For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”Then they gathered around him and asked him,“ Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”He said to them:“ It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (niv)

He came to Simon Peter, who said to him,“ Lord, are you going to wash my feet?”Jesus replied,“ You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”“ No,” said Peter,“ you shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered,“ Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.” (niv)

God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood— to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— (niv)

for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. (niv)

The sun will not beat down on them,’ nor any scorching heat.For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd;‘ he will lead them to springs of living water.’‘ And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’” (niv)
