and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead— Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath. (niv)

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, (niv)

That same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to him with a question. (niv)

“ Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. (niv)

“ Flee from Babylon! Run for your lives! Do not be destroyed because of her sins. It is time for the Lord’s vengeance; he will repay her what she deserves. (niv)

How is it you don’t understand that I was not talking to you about bread? But be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”Then they understood that he was not telling them to guard against the yeast used in bread, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees. (niv)

Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! (niv)

To whom can I speak and give warning? Who will listen to me? Their ears are closed so they cannot hear. The word of the Lord is offensive to them; they find no pleasure in it. (niv)

“ Be careful,” Jesus said to them.“ Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” (niv)

When I say to a wicked person,‘ You will surely die,’ and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood.But if you do warn the wicked person and they do not turn from their wickedness or from their evil ways, they will die for their sin; but you will have saved yourself.“ Again, when a righteous person turns from their righteousness and does evil, and I put a stumbling block before them, they will die. Since you did not warn them, they will die for their sin. The righteous things that person did will not be remembered, and I will hold you accountable for their blood.But if you do warn the righteous person not to sin and they do not sin, they will surely live because they took warning, and you will have saved yourself.” (niv)

( The Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they give their hands a ceremonial washing, holding to the tradition of the elders.When they come from the marketplace they do not eat unless they wash. And they observe many other traditions, such as the washing of cups, pitchers and kettles.)So the Pharisees and teachers of the law asked Jesus,“ Why don’t your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders instead of eating their food with defiled hands?” (niv)

For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven. (niv)

Then the Lord said to him,“ Now then, you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness.You foolish people! Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also?But now as for what is inside you— be generous to the poor, and everything will be clean for you.“ Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.“ Woe to you Pharisees, because you love the most important seats in the synagogues and respectful greetings in the marketplaces.“ Woe to you, because you are like unmarked graves, which people walk over without knowing it.” (niv)

Then the Pharisees went out and laid plans to trap him in his words. (niv)

Then some of the believers who belonged to the party of the Pharisees stood up and said,“ The Gentiles must be circumcised and required to keep the law of Moses.” (niv)

So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears. (niv)

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. (niv)

By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith. (niv)

Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked,“ What? Are we blind too?” (niv)

and he sees the sword coming against the land and blows the trumpet to warn the people,then if anyone hears the trumpet but does not heed the warning and the sword comes and takes their life, their blood will be on their own head.Since they heard the sound of the trumpet but did not heed the warning, their blood will be on their own head. If they had heeded the warning, they would have saved themselves.But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes someone’s life, that person’s life will be taken because of their sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for their blood.’“ Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. (niv)

Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. (niv)

Finally the temple guards went back to the chief priests and the Pharisees, who asked them,“ Why didn’t you bring him in?”“ No one ever spoke the way this man does,” the guards replied.“ You mean he has deceived you also?” the Pharisees retorted.“ Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him?No! But this mob that knows nothing of the law— there is a curse on them.” (niv)

Now the Pharisees who had been sent (niv)

Even from birth the wicked go astray; from the womb they are wayward, spreading lies.Their venom is like the venom of a snake, like that of a cobra that has stopped its ears,that will not heed the tune of the charmer, however skillful the enchanter may be.Break the teeth in their mouths, O God; Lord, tear out the fangs of those lions! (niv)

Then the high priest and all his associates, who were members of the party of the Sadducees, were filled with jealousy. (niv)

Then the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to him with a question. (niv)

This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister. (niv)

Later they sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians to Jesus to catch him in his words. (niv)

But the Pharisees and the experts in the law rejected God’s purpose for themselves, because they had not been baptized by John.) (niv)

“ But you— come here, you children of a sorceress, you offspring of adulterers and prostitutes!Who are you mocking? At whom do you sneer and stick out your tongue? Are you not a brood of rebels, the offspring of liars? (niv)

They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his mighton the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you. (niv)

They have known me for a long time and can testify, if they are willing, that I conformed to the strictest sect of our religion, living as a Pharisee. (niv)

The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed:‘ God, I thank you that I am not like other people— robbers, evildoers, adulterers— or even like this tax collector. (niv)

And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” (niv)

They hatch the eggs of vipers and spin a spider’s web. Whoever eats their eggs will die, and when one is broken, an adder is hatched. (niv)

They called to the mountains and the rocks,“ Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can withstand it?” (niv)

The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this and were sneering at Jesus. (niv)

The great dragon was hurled down— that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say:“ Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. (niv)

John said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him,“ You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.” (niv)

Then Paul, knowing that some of them were Sadducees and the others Pharisees, called out in the Sanhedrin,“ My brothers, I am a Pharisee, descended from Pharisees. I stand on trial because of the hope of the resurrection of the dead.”When he said this, a dispute broke out between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the assembly was divided.( The Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, and that there are neither angels nor spirits, but the Pharisees believe all these things.)There was a great uproar, and some of the teachers of the law who were Pharisees stood up and argued vigorously.“ We find nothing wrong with this man,” they said.“ What if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?” (niv)

The priests and the captain of the temple guard and the Sadducees came up to Peter and John while they were speaking to the people.They were greatly disturbed because the apostles were teaching the people, proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead. (niv)

Then the disciples came to him and asked,“ Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this?” (niv)

But when the Pharisees heard this, they said,“ It is only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons.” (niv)

“ Be careful,” Jesus warned them.“ Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and that of Herod.” (niv)

God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. (niv)
