要知道，我们领受了真理的知识以后，如果还故意犯罪，就不再有赎罪的祭物被保留下来；只保留了对审判的可怕等待，和那将要吞灭敌对者的嫉恨之火。任何拒绝摩西律法的人，凭两个或三个见证人的见证，就得不到怜悯而死，何况一个人践踏了神的儿子，把那使自己成圣的立约之血看做是俗物，又侮辱了恩典的圣灵，你们想想，这个人难道不该受更厉害的惩罚吗？因为我们认识曾说过“报应在我，我将回报”的那一位，他又说过“主要审判自己的子民。”落在永生神的手中实在可怕。

原来，他们如果藉着认识我们的主、救主耶稣基督而逃脱这世界的污秽，却又被这些污秽纠缠、制伏了，那么，他们最后的情况就比先前更坏了；因为认识了义的道路以后，背离那交托给他们的神圣诫命，对他们来说，倒不如不认识还好。在他们身上正应验了这真实的俗语：“狗转身回到自己所吐的东西；猪洗干净了又到污泥中打滚。”

无论谁听了天国的话语而不领悟，那恶者就来，把那撒在他心里的夺走；这就是那被撒上种子的‘路边之地’。那被撒上种子的‘岩石地’是这样的人：他听了这话语，立刻怀着喜乐的心接受了它；只是他里面没有根而不能持久，一旦为这话语受患难或逼迫，他立刻就放弃了。那被撒进种子的‘荆棘丛’是这样的人：他听了这话语，但今世的忧虑和财富的迷惑把话语挤住了，他就成了不结果实的。

每个人的工程将来要显露，因为那日子要把它显明；原来它要被火显现出来，这火要考验每个人的工程是怎样的。

“有个污灵从一个人身上出来以后，走遍无水之地，寻找安歇的地方，却找不到，就说：‘我要回到我离开的那屋里去。’于是它回去，发现那里空着，已被打扫干净，摆设整齐，就去带了另外七个比自己更邪恶的灵，进去住在那里。那个人最后的情况就比先前更坏了。这邪恶的世代也将是这样。”
