The centurion replied,“ Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.

He sent out his word and healed them, snatching them from the door of death.

So Jesus went with them. But just before they arrived at the house, the officer sent some friends to say,“ Lord, don’t trouble yourself by coming to my home, for I am not worthy of such an honor.I am not even worthy to come and meet you. Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed.

For when he spoke, the world began! It appeared at his command.

But Jesus reprimanded him.“ Be quiet! Come out of the man,” he ordered.At that, the evil spirit screamed, threw the man into a convulsion, and then came out of him.Amazement gripped the audience, and they began to discuss what had happened.“ What sort of new teaching is this?” they asked excitedly.“ It has such authority! Even evil spirits obey his orders!”

Jesus reached out and touched him.“ I am willing,” he said.“ Be healed!” And instantly the leprosy disappeared.

When Simon Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said,“ Oh, Lord, please leave me— I’m such a sinful man.”

Jesus responded,“ It isn’t right to take food from the children and throw it to the dogs.”She replied,“ That’s true, Lord, but even dogs are allowed to eat the scraps that fall beneath their masters’ table.”

“ I baptize with water those who repent of their sins and turn to God. But someone is coming soon who is greater than I am— so much greater that I’m not worthy even to be his slave and carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

Though his ministry follows mine, I’m not even worthy to be his slave and untie the straps of his sandal.”

I am not worthy of all the unfailing love and faithfulness you have shown to me, your servant. When I left home and crossed the Jordan River, I owned nothing except a walking stick. Now my household fills two large camps!

His son said to him,‘ Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son.’

But John tried to talk him out of it.“ I am the one who needs to be baptized by you,” he said,“ so why are you coming to me?”

and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. Please take me on as a hired servant.”’

“ You and Aaron must take the staff and assemble the entire community. As the people watch, speak to the rock over there, and it will pour out its water. You will provide enough water from the rock to satisfy the whole community and their livestock.”

Lord, you know the hopes of the helpless. Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them.

When Jesus came to Simon Peter, Peter said to him,“ Lord, are you going to wash my feet?”Jesus replied,“ You don’t understand now what I am doing, but someday you will.”“ No,” Peter protested,“ you will never ever wash my feet!” Jesus replied,“ Unless I wash you, you won’t belong to me.”
